ISIS Killed 27 People In Syria This Month: Monitoring Group

ISIS cells in Syria have killed 27 people since the start of September, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a report released on the 29th of the month.

According to the London-based monitoring group, ISIS cells carried out five attacks in areas held by the United States-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern and eastern region over the past four weeks.

Two of the attacks took place in Raqqa and three others in Deir Ezzor. The terrorist group’s attacks claimed the lives of three fighters of the SDF and a civilian.

In government-held areas, the group’s cells carried out seven attacks, the monitoring group reported. Two of the attacks took place in the eastern Homs countryside, four in the western Deir Ezzor countryside and one in the southern countryside of Raqqa.

The SOHR said that the attacks claimed the lives of 20 Syrian service members and pro-government fighters, in addition to three civilians. ISIS also lost two terrorists in clashes with government forces.

The numbers provided by the SOHR show that ISIS activities in Iraq have significantly decreased since the beginning of the year. Despite this improvement, the terrorist group’s insurgency in the war-torn country is not expected to end in the near future.

The lack of any coordination between different forces battling ISIS in Syria and the country’s economic decline will likely play in favor of the group.
