ISIS Launches Large Offensive, Recaptures 7 Villages In Southern Raqqa Countryside

Support SouthFront

On Thursday, the ISIS-linked news agency, Amaq announced that ISIS recaptured al-Muqlah, al-Atshanah, Salem al-Hamad, al-Bu Hamad, Zor Shumr, al-Huwijah and Ghanem al-Ali villages in the southern Raqqa countryside.

Amaq also claimed that 42 Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers were killed during the ISIS attack.

Furthermore, Amaq claimed that 58 more SAA were killed in a VBIED attack on a gathering of SAA soldiers near Ghanim al-Ali village.

Earlier this month, the SAA re-deployed many units of the Tiger Forces and Tribal Forces from the southern Raqqa countryside to boost its attack in the eastern Hama countryside after the forces there failed to make any real gains.

After clearing the east Hama and east Homs pockets the SAA will be able again to focus on the southern Raqqa countryside.

Why ISIS is not attacking SDF ??????

Because USA is helping ISIS.

Vidura

weed is a nice drug taken in moderation.

Serious

Useless comment. I know you are an USIS supporter. So, don’t talk to me. I don’t talk with terrorist.

Gary Sellars

what he meant to say was:

cock is a nice thing taken in moderation

Justin

Yet in many US states its taken on a massive level! Maybe that explains it then! Fucked up monkeys all round!

Vidura

There’s 340m people here.

Xanatos

Isis is not attacking sdf, who is taking raqqa, their capital, because these isis commanders are western moles.

Todd Smithe

How are they suppose to retake it imbecile when they have to go through SAA? Most ISIS forces are below river in deir ezzor.

Xanatos

Take a look at the map. There was sdf on three north and SAA on the south of the Euphrates. The SAA has much more men than sdf. Larger swathes of sdf territory its very lightly garrisoned. It would have habe been easy to attack sdf.

However, they don’t. In what is only described as a peace treaty, they dnt fire a shot at sdf territory. They focus relentlessly on SAA instead.

So, do these Isis forces have a peace agreement with sdf even as the sdf is assaulting their capital , raqqa. And killing Hundreds of Isis fighters? No, that is ridiculous.

The only logical explanation is Isis commanders are moles working for the U.S.

dutchnational

Indeed, look at the map.

IS retreating from SAA out of the Badiya are south of the river. Those are the ones now attacking the SAA along the south bank of the river. They cannot go to the north as all bridges are destroyed. Those of IS north of the river are either besieged in Raqqah or near Markadah, waiting for the new offensive from SDF out of Shaddaadi.

John Brown

As long as there is an American presence in Syria & Iraq there will be an ISIS Israeli presence as Americans are slaves of racist supremacist Jews and racist supremacist Jews created and control ISIS and America must support ISIS as its racist supremacist Jewish masters order them to. Ex defense minister says IS apologized to Israel for November clash. Translation ISIS apologized for accidently attacking its master. One does not apologize for attacking an enemy. Why doesn’t the Guardian talk about this??? http://www.timesofisrael.com/ex-defense-minister-says-is-apologized-to-israel-for-november-clash/ Moshe Ya’alon’s office refuses to elaborate after alluding to contact with terror group You won’t see this on our heavily censored Jewish owned media. This should be front page news and on every T.V. channel. Where are the sanctions and Toma Hawk cruise missile strikes on Israel for this?? They show this in Israeli media but if any media or politician in the Israeli occupied slave empire showed it or talked about it here they would be called racist, arrested etc. for talking about and reporting on the truth. Nothing beats a confession this time from the Israeli defense minister. Is there any doubt who the creators and masters of ISIS and Al Qaeda are??? Is the times of Israel and the Israeli minister of defense anti Jewish and against Israel for saying this??? http://russia-insider.com/en/just-some-photographs-israeli-soldiers-hanging-out-islamic-extremists-syria/ri19253 Just Some Photographs of Israeli Soldiers Hanging Out With Al-Qaeda in Syria https://www.rt.com/news/386027-isis-apologized-israel-golan Tel Aviv Pays Al Qaeda Fighters Salaries: The Syrian War’s Worst Kept Secret That Could Become Israel’s Nightmare Yes, Israel is supporting Syrian rebels, but this goes beyond cash and aid: Israel hopes the rebels will serve as a buffer against Hezbollah and a resurgent Assad, a strategy that could easily backfire http://www.globalresearch.ca/tel-aviv-pays-al-qaeda-fighters-salaries-the-syrian-wars-worst-kept-secret-that-could-become-israels-nightmare/5597339 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB8lPZ6zxhA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfl3vvsaeaw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgMYeSmYQ5U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie1N4kL_RUw

ruca

You’re preaching to the choir buddy. Agreed 100%

Skagos

Why would they? They are basically on the same team. Both created by US with the objective of seperation of Syria.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The only time Daesh has attacked them is when defending other than that why it only accounts for 15-17% of the fighting against Daesh. Their effectiveness overall is debatable and they may not be relied upon in a confrontation with the SAA, why the US is trying to coordinate the other proxies in Syria.

goingbrokes

“That is the question!” Let the military talking heads try to squirm out of that!

Justin

lol yeah I know right!!! We only ever see ISIS attacking the SAA! Its so fucking obvious who ISIS works for!

Todd Smithe

LOL yeah because you don’t like reporting it for bias fake news like CNN or Fox.

Justin

CNN for sure! Fox about 60% fake these days!

Todd Smithe

Making excuses for your failures. Look they are not attacking SDF when they clearly are moron.

dutchnational

Do not tell. Serious has only a memoryspan of a few months. As late as august 2015 there was the fighting between SAA and YPG on the one hand and IS attacking the city, ending in a rout of SAA, partly because of defecting NDF, and a rout of IS by the YPG, in the end YPG took control of most of the city. As of that time, SDF had the upper hand and it was the SDF in the offensive against IS, taking the whole north east of the Euphrates and taking Manbij region, Raqqah region, Shaddaadi region.

Alex Black

Interesting operation by ISIS, but it wont change the outcome, desperate thrashing and waste of man power, the SAA will regroup and take the area back by the weekend.

heydad

Also their gains are so overrated. They claim hundreds dead yet show no proof, and remember these are the same people that don’t miss the chance to parade dead bodies of their enemies around. 58 in one VBIED? that must be a all time jihadist record they are claiming. Think they would video tape that over the countless fails they have had caught on camera. These gains are an improvised method to boost isis moral into a large offensive that leaves them obliterated and then SAA can just stroll into urban areas like MAADAN without resistance. Keep up they good work SAA and friends

ruca

I prefer your version.

Jan Tjarks

Daesh trying to prevent the inevitable. It’s nothing else than a delaying action, splitting attention of Tigers, helping the pockets in central Syria. It will have some effect due to this, but in the end means nothing in regards to the outcome.

Buying time won’t lead to anything for Daesh anymore, but helps their masters to delay Syria winning the war as long as possible. USA do not need any resources, they have plenty themselves to export. Their main goal is to ‘balcanize’ the middle east, creating more failed states like Libya, which are easy to manipulate. Divide et impera, the old game. With this they are trying to weaken Russia and Iran, and China too (one belt one road initiative), beating them into submission. Chaos and war is the only way for the US empire to last, at least a little longer. On the global chessboard it is necessary to weaken the opponents, to stay in power. But so far the USA didn’t achieve their goals and their strategy seems to fail.

Michael Qiao

the US and Israel’s strategy not only failed but backfired, Iran’s presence are now stronger than ever, and the SAA are becoming a modernized, elite force that will reckoned with

heydad

One thing is for sure, Syria, its people, president and military forces are not going anywhere by any means. Proud time in history to be a Syrian id say.

Michael Qiao

this will all make Syrians proud for the decades to come, as they took the US empire along with its allies on

LynFSN

Still a presence must be esablished east of the Euphrates soon before the SDF and other US mercs move in to fill the gap. It´s a delaying action

Michael Qiao

ISIS’s battle of the bulge, as expected, they will amass everything they have but they will driven back and the SAA will regained all lost territories during the offensive

Lol

ruca

No

Shahna

Silly boy – that’s USA and ISIS.

Joe Doe

This is showing that ISIS is still strong and able to mussel string force against SAA. In addition, its showing SAA has poor intelligence gathering and poor strategic and tactical planning as I mentioned many times before. The one of strategic mistake was stop advances and not to liberate maadan city, than withdraw and redirect SAA Tiger force to another front. This allow ISIS to regroup, rearm, reinforce and counter attack. Basic mistakes, you never start something to stop in the middle, unless is urgency.

Over the 7 years war in Syria the SAA High Command and fields officers has learn very little and most likely they will not learn much more. Therefore, Syria always gone be weak militarily

Serious

I don’t think that SAA is there. I think just some fighters gathered from the neighboor are defending this place. They withdrew when ISIS attacked.

Jeff Lewin

“… the majority of pro-government forces that were killed-in-action (KIA) stemmed from the Al-Baqir tribe which has thousands of troops fighting alongside the SAA. The tribal fighters originate primarily from Aleppo province…” —–Unnamed military source, c.f., Chris Tomson, “One hundred Syrian soldiers killed today due to ISIS offensive in rural Raqqa: Amaq,” Al-Masdar News, Aug. 24, 2017

Samuel Boas

If you hate the SAA so much then why don’t you join your ISIS girlfriends you primitive.

Graeme Rymill

You can’t be strong everywhere. As Sun Tzu said “if you reinforce everywhere you are weak everywhere”. ISIS in recent months has displayed zero ability to wrest territory off the SAA and then to hold on to it. The fighting has reached a tipping point in favour of the SAA on all fronts. ISIS will be unable to reverse these battlefield successes unless something has changed that we don’t know about. Successful raids and local actions may occur but long term success is highly unlikely for ISIS.

Solomon Krupacek

forget sun tzu. this is bullshit. napoleon, alexandros megas, jenghis khan and others made opposite of sun tzes bullshits. and therefore built up empire. sun tze never built up empire from zero.

Graeme Rymill

I wanted to quote Genghis Khan but as he couldn’t read or write….. :-(

Solomon Krupacek

He could read and write, and made alphybet for mongols.

Shahna

I guess “napoleon, alexandros megas, jenghis khan and others” like you ALSO thought Sun Tzu was bullshit ….. else…

….. else their empires would STILL BE AROUND!

Solomon Krupacek

they did not red him and therefore won.

no empire last long.

but id follow sun tzu, they wold never buiold up any empire

Jan Tjarks

The music plays in central Syria. Ma’adan is just a side story, which can be addressed after central Syria is under control and Deir Ezzor taken, being the next pocket. This is what will happen, no matter how many assaults Daesh will push forward, they won’t achieve anything. In fact, the results achieved in central Syria are the more “urgent” matters as you described it.

The funny part of your comment is, that you already have to declare “that ISIS is still strong”, indirectly acknowledging that Daesh is being beaten around.

The forces collected at Ma’adan are mainly those, who have fled central Syria. It is by no means a rested or strong force, it is a desperate attempt to influence the battle in central Syria by splitting Tiger forces.

Your wording is a good example of political denial, something that too works for a troll.

Shahna

You must be a phenomenal expert is these military matters – which would be WHY you call yourself Joe Doe?

PZIVJ

WTF Have you even looked at a map of what SAA has accomplished in central Syria in the last two weeks? You must be a military genius for sure! Is this you? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f2d11f5607e4cb298c0e71ae805f34ff16fa222df65d60fc6c4f4a275b772800.jpg

Solomon Krupacek

not so important as deir ez zor

he is right.

PZIVJ

Oh really? And why can’t Deir Ezzor be approached from the west first, vs from the north. And with much more force I should add.

Solomon Krupacek

several reasons. e.g., from north is closer and aftere maadan is ni other city in way, also becuse block sdf attack from other side of euphrates.

saa is weak, extremly weak :( this results and gains has only therefore, that kurds blocked lot of isis fighters in raqqa. i remeber, that aleppo country was liberated from isi by kurds and turks. saa took anly villages, after removed isis. assads tactics is shame. and shoygu is also anly nanonapoleon.

Robert Duran

You prefer arguing that SAA is weak than admitting someone is helping ISIS

Solomon Krupacek

hts helped. but this fact will not change, that saa is weak

Robert Duran

Sorry to burst your bubble but the unmarked aircrafts seen escorting ISIS in Afghanistan 2 weeks ago did not belong to HTS..

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They have used this as a feint to draw forces since they sacrificed their center for this and SAA will continue to march towards DE and control the Bishri triangle. The Tigers have sent a Fire brigade to deal with the situation, this would explain the B-52 that was flying over Raqqa Yesterday.

Jeff Lewin

+Joe Doe, c.f. “The one of strategic mistake was stop advances and not to liberate maadan city…”

No, that would not have been a good strategy when the rats still had uncontained forces in Eastern Homs, which still had the mobility to hit the Syrian Army’s extended front lines opportunistically from Hama to Raqqa to Deir Ezzor.

Robert Duran

And what have you learnt..Not much either apparently

Cheryl Brandon

The International Outlaws pilots provided air cover for iSIS, which is why they regained those villages! And SDF and ISIS are funded by the same people USA! they all kill together.!

Shahna

The Americans are DETERMINED to make the Raqqah affair last as LONG as possible. Even longer than Mosul. Watch.

Leon Auguste

Why would you say that? What’s the motif? Genuine question please… Not taking sides :-)

Shahna

Have you seen the Americans END a war since the turn of the century? They said they’d take what … 3 months to liberate Mosul and they killed civilians for 14. They still are. For Raqqah, in June it was 2 months – yet a month over that ISIL is making a comeback.

It’s just not the American way. When Syria and Russia have freed Deir Ez Zor – this lot will Still be “liberating” Raqqa. And killing civilians. They do so like killing civilians. Oh yes they do.

————- I’m being facetious – but I’ll bet you I’m right.

Solomon Krupacek

isis is not making comeback, and with this soviet tempo of saa amnericans will free DEZ city.

Shahna

Psst….. Raqqa and Afghanistan. And expect to see them swarming in North Africa too soon. (I hear whispers of Egyptian and Nigerian poor human rights records. Always a sure sign.)

Pssst. It’s the Syrians and Russian on their way to DEZ – your Yanks are stuck in Raqqa.

Shahna

Looks like the Syrians and Russians will have to come and show the Americans how.

Ma_Laoshi

Tigers can’t turn their tail or all kinds of mischief break out behind their backs, as usual. Which worthies were supposed to guard these villages–some tribal units?

disqus_WlS7Fxybgw

Great counter-offensive. Since Russian are not as fast as US to provide bombs from the air – IS soldiers can advance easily. But don’t cry, same would have happened to PKK or SDF, whatever, if they were to be left abandoned by their master.

Gary Sellars

No big deal. IS pushes, SAA pulls back to more defended lines, simply biding time while their elites crush the ISIS orcs in the central cauldrons and the assault on DeZ gains pace.

ISIS will be grossly overstating the SAA casualties in a hopeless attempt to raise their own morale (which is in freefall).

MeMadMax

Total waste of time…
