On Monday morning in the northeastern countryside of the Homs Governorate, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched an offensive at the Al-Sha’ar Gas Fields, striking the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses around wells 101, 104, and 105.
Initially, the ISIS offensive was successful as they seized 3 points inside Jabal Al-Sha’ar (Poet Mountains); however, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to forestall the terrorist group’s advance into the Al-Sha’ar Gas Fields after a four hour long battle on Monday.
