ISIS Leader Reportedly Captured By U.S. Forces During Helicopter Raid In Syria Raqqa

A suspected leader of ISIS was reportedly captured by the United States military during a helicopter raid that took place in the northern Syrian governorate of Raqqa late on September 28.

The raid targeted a compound in the town of Mazrat Ya’rub, some 14 kilometers to the west of Raqqa city. The force that carried out the raid flew in special mission helicopters all the way from Iraq and was covered by attack helicopters and combat drones.

Locals reported hearing heavy clashes and several blasts in Mazrat Ya’rub during the raid, which lasted for around 30 minutes. A photo that surfaced online showed a breached wall in the compound where the suspected ISIS leader was taking shelter.

The scale of the raid led to speculations that the target of the raid was none other than Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, who was named by ISIS as the new “caliph” just last month. However, Syrian activists said that the U.S. military captured a lower rank leader of the group who moved from Aleppo governorate to Mazrat Ya’rub around two years ago.

Just last week, the U.S. military captured an ISIS Syria operational and facilitation official during a helicopter raid in northern Syria. The Central Command identified the official in a statement released later as Abu Halil al-Fadani and said that he had ties throughout the ISIS network in the region.

The U.S. maintains some 900 troops in Syria to counter ISIS. The troops are deployed between a garrison on a strategic international highway that passes through al-Tanf area in the southeastern region and a network of bases at key oil and gas fields in the governorates of al-Haskah and Deir Ezzor in the northern and eastern regions.

Despite a recent increase in U.S. operations against ISIS in northern and eastern Syria, the terrorist group remains highly active in areas held by American troops and the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces.

you mean usa operative rescued and ready to be briefed and redeployed.

Kena

exactly, probably to serve as a personal security deployment for zelensky, as he doesn’t seem to know what to do next; another sad story of an abused child becoming an abuser themselves.

Abu-Mahdi

“suspected leader” ???? so us kidnaps people on suspicion? (well obama murdered them on the suspicion of evidence right?). someone they most likely would be responsible for when sponsoring state run terrorism since 9/11.
