The main finance building of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has burned in the center of Mosul. A director of the department and five his assistants were arrested.
The main building of the financial department of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group was devoured by a huge fire in the city of Mosul in Nineveh province in northern Iraq, Arab media reported on Tuesday, citing local sources.
According to Arab media, the three-floor building in the center of Mosul caught fire in the evening on September 6. The fire was accompanied by explosions. As the sources reported, the fire has spread to a storehouse of weapons next to the finance building, leading to a huge explosion inside the storehouse.
Reportedly, a director of the department and five his assistants were arrested, since the IS has treated the fire as arson. The sources also noted that documents, related to IS members, and their salaries were destroyed in the fire.
After the IS lost a large portion of land that was recaptured by the Iraqi Forces and Peshmerga, in particular, the district of Qayyara in southern Mosul, the group has been undergoing a dire condition of lack of morale and trust in its members.
