ISIS Newspaper Claims Six Russian Service Members Were Killed In Eastern Homs

Illustrative image

ISIS’ newspaper, al-Nab’a, claimed on March 21 that 6 Russian service members and 29 Syrian soldiers were killed in two ambushes by the terrorist group’s cells in the eastern Homs countryside.

The ambushes, which supposedly occurred earlier this month, took place on the road leading to the city of al-Sukhnah and in the area of al-Sukari, south of the historical city of Palmyra.

Hundreds of ISIS fighters and commanders are hiding in a 4,000km2 pocket in the heart of the Homs desert, that lays between eastern Homs and western Deir Ezzor. These terrorists launched several small-scale attacks on civilians and Syrian troops over the last two months.

However, there was no reports of any major attack in the region, as al-Nab’a is claiming now. The newspaper didn’t also present any evidence what so ever to back its claims.

Moreover, the Ministry of Defense of Russia didn’t announce any loses recently. So do, Syrian pro-government sources, who usually report any loses in the SAA’s ranks.

These facts suggest that al-Nab’a claims were nothing but a propaganda stunt to raise the morale of ISIS’ supporters who are panicking over the terrorist group most recent defeat in the Middle Euphrates River Valley.
