The remaining fighters of ISIS on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River are preparing to fend off an upcoming attack fo the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on August 9.
According to the UK-based monitoring group, ISIS has dissolved its religious police, known as “Hisbah,” as a part of its preparations. Currently, the terrorist group is only focusing on military and security aspects in a bid to repel the upcoming attack.
Meanwhile, the Syrian news outlet Deir Ezzor 24 reported that warplanes of the US-led coalition conducted airstrikes on ISIS’ positions on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, which confirms that the collation is planning to launch its attack soon.
Local observers believe that more than 1,000 fighters and commanders of ISIS are currently hiding the town of Hajin and several villages around it along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. These fighters are well-experienced and managed to repel two attacks of the SDF earlier this year.
However, with the full support of the US-led coalition, the SDF will likely win the upcoming battle and capture the remaining strongholds of ISIS.

Funny how the Lead Inspector General’s quarterly report to the U.S. Congress (Apr – June) presented last Monday said that there were still 13,100 to 14,500 ISIS fighters in Syria, give or take. That reported number – based on U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency estimates, also says that “…4,000-6,000 of them remained in the U.S. military’s areas of operation in northeastern Syria.” = SDFistan.
The Pentagon insists there are only 1,000 – 3,000 left in SDFistan – even though they presumably get the same DIA numbers given to the U.S. Congress. Which one is lying? Now the locals are saying “…more than 1000…” in a few tiny villages around Hajin? WTF happened to the other 5,000 in SDFistan – minus the few hundred killed in July? More ‘agreements’ with CENTCOM?
Worse yet, why does the DIA estimate somewhere between 7,000 – 10,000 ISIS left in Syria outside of SDFistan? Exactly how many ISIS did the U.S. actually let escape from Raqqa? The SAA killed maybe a thousand ISIS tops (excluding ‘rebels’ killed) in the Daraa campaign, but that still leaves several THOUSAND left roaming around the Syrian desert if we go by the DIA numbers. CENTCOM should be able to locate large groups of these bastards. Is the U.S. policy really only to kill ISIS that threaten “the US or US interests”? The OIG report probably should have suggested bombing those ISIS too, rather than wasting time whitewashing U.S. contractor’s repeated human trafficking in CENTCOM’s AO.
So if ISIS are hiding in the U.S. Safe Zone At Tanf or among the 50,000 refugees/U.S. hostages in the Rukban Death Camp agree not to threaten coalition troops but are willing to kill Syrians, Druze or anyone else not on TeamUSA, then those ISIS get to stay there under the protection of CENTCOM? Likewise, gatherings of head-choppers elsewhere in the Syrian desert that only threaten Syrian interests (and not U.S. interests) are ignored by CENTCOM?
Looks like we’ll be in Syria for the next f’king 17 years… this is going to get expensive.
