ISIS Recaptures 5 Positions From US-backed Forces In Northern Deir Ezzor Countryside

Support SouthFront

On October 13, ISIS fighters recaptured 5 positions north of the Jafra oil field in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside from the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq. The source added that ISIS fighters killed 9 SDF members and captured many weapons during their counter-attack.

Meanwhile, Kurdish sources reported that the SDF repelled other attacks of ISIS on its positions around al-Suwar town in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside, and Markada town in the southern al-Hasakah countryside. The sources said that SDF fighters killed 6 ISIS members and destroyed 6 mortars of ISIS. Moreover, 3 SDF fighters were killed while repelling ISIS attack.

In a related development, US Army Colonel Ryan Dillon Spokesman for the US-led coalition in Syria said the negotiations between the SDF’s Raqqa Civil Council and local Arab leaders to evacuate civilians from Raqqa is still ongoing. Colonel Dillon denied that the US-led coalition is blocking a deal between the SDF and locals in Raqqa city.

Colonel Dillon statement confirms that all Kurdish reports that claimed that the SDF is not negotiating with ISIS are false. The SDF battle in Raqqa city will likely end with a deal with ISIS, or at least Syrian ISIS fighters in the city. Clashes inside Raqqa city even slowed down over the last week, which support this scenario.

Confusing as sh**, isn’t it, Donald?

dutchnational

Sounds like the same BS as them taking over Jafra oilfields two days ago. Photo’s were from around the train station, south of the fields.

Imo fake news

Kira Binkley

You are making unwarranted assumptions, because you are afraid. Things have changed. Enemies become allies to thwart greater threats. That is what is now happening. Move on. Get over the fear.

dutchnational

Update for you on Raqqah, unconfirmed.

Today 100 IS surrendered in Raqqah and a new revised deal. Only local IS to leave. Foreigners to surrender?

SDF advancing east of DeZ, just above rhe river. Several villages along the Khabur river taken.

If there is indeed a deal, expect large redeployments from Raqqah towards DeZ soon.

There is no photo confirmation about the transfer this is just to spin , Battles are still ongoing in the city 100 civilians left.

dutchnational

Battle still ongoing, indeed. Of the surrenders, there are pics. About the busses, I know nothing.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Those are civilians that are being moved out of combat age, nothing is as it seem.

dutchnational

Confirmed as fake news. No villages lost north of Jafra.

Kennethllindsy

Have not seen any other reports; except a Kurd report saying SDF lost 3 fighters — but that was probably reference to Suwar to Markadah battle zone that is developing.

PZIVJ

@dutchnational:disqus Appears that ISIS is putting up a fight against SDF in this area according to AMN. “the Al-Jafrah oil field, a site which was abandoned by the SDF due to the jihadist attack according to pro-Kurdish sources.”

Kennethllindsy

As much as I like Leith, there are occasional errors in AMN reporting.

Doubt that any SDF got killed, this was just another method of weapon transferrs.

cortisol

That’s how weapons were transferred through US – Iraqi army – ISIS channel historically. Or US – “moderate rebel” – ISIS. Now just US – SDF – ISIS channel. All involve the same principal of “capturing” and “withdrawing” on the land plots, that are designated for the weapon transfer operation.

The Farney Fontenoy

Was there an actual attack, or a strategic withdrawal to allow ISIS to attack the SAA from there? There’s been too much co-operation between SDF & ISIS to believe them at this point

FlorianGeyer

Good point.

This is another group of ISIS not all are on the same page the Shammar tribesmen are chameleons ISIS one day the next SDF troops. The akidat cheiftan said that some joined and others flat out refused, so the deal may be broken. They showed pictures of a convoy that was hit at the time of the sandstorm and reporter was killed and reporters only travel with military convoys. Finding you can never fully trust the journalism from the US terrorist side, tweets were deleted on Kurds twitter accounts about the capture, by ISIS and accounts of dead were higher.
