On January 13, ISIS news agency, Amaq, released photos of a recent attack by the group in the northeastern Nigerian state of Yobe.
The attack, which took place on January 10, targeted a gathering of the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) near the town of Gujba. ISIS terrorists forced government troops to flee the area following fierce clashes.
According to Amaq, five Nigerian service members were killed in the attack. The terrorists also capture a pickup. Three other pickups, a truck, a bus and 7 bulldozers, which were abandoned by government troops during the attack, were set on fire by the terrorists.

From its side, the NAF said the attack near Guijba was repelled. A spokesman for the army, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said 28 ISIS terrorists were killed in the attack. The spokesman claimed that one soldier was lost during the battle.
“Regrettably, one gallant soldier paid the supreme price while one other soldier was wounded during the encounter,” the Premium Times quoted Onyeuko as saying. “Wounded soldier have been evacuated to a military medical facility and is responding positively to treatment.”
The Islamic State in West Africa has apparently expanded its influence from Borno state, which neighbors Lake Chad, to Yobe.
The Nigerian military and security forces should take serious measures to confront this new threat before the terrorist group could establish itself within Yobe.
The Buhari regime is more interested in oppressing Nigerian Shia than fighting Boko Haram and ISIS.
