ISIS Releases Photos From Deadly Attack On Church In Nigeria's Borno

On February 27, ISIS news agency, Amaq, released photos documenting a recent attack by the terrorist group’s branch in Nigeria, the Islamic State-West Africa Province (ISWAP), on the town of Kautikari in the northeastern state of Borno.

The attack, which took place on February 25, targeted a church in Kautikari. During the attack, ISWAP terrorists killed the son of a tribal leader, known as Bulama Wadir, along with three other men, two of whom were refugees. Before withdrawing, the terrorists set the church on fire.

This was not ISWAP’s first attack on Kautikari this year. The town, which is located in southern Borno, was attacked on January 1. Back then, at least ten people, mostly women and children, were abducted by the terrorists.

ISWAP recent attacks on Kautikari reflect the deteriorating security situation in the entire northeastern region of Nigeria.

The terrorist group has been spreading its radical ideology with much success in the northeastern region, mainly in the states of Borno and Yobe.

Nigerian government forces conduct operations against ISWAP cells in the region on a regular basis. Despite this, the terrorist group doesn’t appear to be backing down. Today, several parts of Borno and Yobe can considered strongholds of the group.

I really struggle to understand “turn the other cheek” in this scenario.
