ISIS terrorists have foiled an attack of the Philippine Army on their positions in Marawi and ambushed a convoy of the Philippine military during the advance.
Furthermore, ISIS fighters managed to capture at least two US-made M706 Commando 4×4 amphibious armored car, the vehicle armed with a 20mm gun and a 7.62mm machinegun.

According to photos available online, ISIS members were armed with M16A1 assault rifles equipped with 40mm M203 grenade launchers as well as M14 tactical rifles equipped with binoculars to use them as sniper rifles.

Terrorists also downed a DJI Mavic Pro drone which the Philippine Army may have used for surveillance tasks.

The Philippine Army lacks the expertise required to conduct such counter-terrorism operations in urban areas, and it seems that it faces more difficulties after ISIS has seized more weapons.
However, the Philippine government is not going to tolerate the presence of ISIS terrorists in Marawi. Thus, the terrorist group will likely not been able to hold the city for a long time.

American trained troops are never very good anywhere, including Afghanistan against lightly armed local fighters where the US and NATO have been playing war games for 16 years , which is 4X the time the US spent fighting WW2 :)
The US though is superb at bluster and killing civilians.
ARVN in Vietnam showed the poor quality of US “training” and then Iraq and ANA is Afghanistan, all failures. Compare this to how bravely the Russian and Iranian trained SAA is fighting terrorism in Syria.
I wouldn’t worry too much the Filipinos are reacting faster than the Iraqi army. But they need to move faster and stronger.

Wow, i give them credit. A few hundred have defeated the entire Filipino army. Amazing. It seems to me ISIS is fully capable of defeating all of the corrupt governments of the earth. I am 100% against ISIS, but I am still stunned. So far only opposing militias are any good against them. Such as Hezbollah. Seems the days of Empires and armies is over. The time of Militias bringing down the corrupt system is following a natural inevitable course of formations to bring down governments which rob from the people. It will be interesting to see when ISIS establishes their own City in England called London. I can see it now, wave after wave of SAS and Mi6 and Mi5 solders sent against them, their own creation. And thousands of UK-Imperial officers will lay dead at the feet of a mere 200 ISIS. lol It will also be interesting when Chinese city’s start to fall to ISIS as well. And the day when the CIA headquarters is over run by their own creations.
Give me a break. This Philippine island has been a Muslim hotbed for quite some time. That’s why ISUS want’s to setup shop there.
I wouldn’t bother giving them credit. This is a rerun of what happened in Mosul. It is entirely misguided to think that a group of insurgents could operate this efficiently militarily. The very efficiency with which they operate reveals that they are being given a lot of planning and battle-field help. CIA-Mossad regime change teams are organising them. They get real time satellite intel, and complete signal intercepts, that is how they are able to ambush govt troops and convoys. They have very detailed up to date maps. The entire city is mapped and classed in terms of priority targets. Exactly like Iraq. There are highly experienced military operators guiding the group’s leadership and heading the top teams, most likely SF guys who have a personal and depraved desire to kill civilians. They are not any better soldiers than anywhere else. This is not a spontaneous insurgency, don’t fall for the media bs. But they do know where to strike for maximum effect, that technique has been honed in Syria and Iraq.
The best isis “establishment” of anything is toilet graffiti. Its defeated in iraq and syria, its own home soil. Its on the run in the rest of the world. You can’t claim to be isis openly or you’ll get a HEAT round up your ass! LOL! As the article notes, their isis RV in Marawi is short lived. Its delusion if you believe isis can retain the city for any length of time actually.
They should ask the Russians for help.

I just want to clarify they are not ISIS but Mauri rebels and mixed with Abu Sayyaf rebels. Both rebel whom are allied are not ISIS
Amazing – wherever the US has a big political problem with the state leadership in a dominant Sunni Muslim state – ISIS just keeps on appearing armed to the teeth and causing mayhem with surprisingly skilled military tactics – just amazing coincidences.
