On February 15, ISIS-affiliated Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid renewed its attack against the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the southern governorate of Daraa. The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq reported that Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid fighters had ambushed and killed four fighters of the FSA around the village of al-Sheikh Sa’d in the western Daraa countryside.
Moreover, the Syrian pro-opposition news outlet SMART reported that Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid had shelled many FSA-held villages in the western Daraa countryside during its attack. Several civilians were reportedly killed and injured in the shelling.
From its side, Syrian opposition sources reported that FSA fighters had repelled a large attack of Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid on a strategic checkpoint south of al-Sheikh Sa’d. The sources said that FSA fighters had killed and injured several fighters of the terrorist group.
Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid had launched a similar attack on FSA positions in the village of Hayt in the western Daraa countryside on February 8 and captured several key positions. However, Ahrar al-Sham stepped in and recaptured all the positions that the FSA lost on February 11.
Three FSA groups, the Islamic Muthanna Movement, the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade and the Army of Mujahedeen merged and formed Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid on May, 21 2016. Than the group joined ISIS. Since then, the terrorist group has managed to impose its control over a large pocket in the western Daraa countryside, along the border with Jordan and Israel.
The winning strategy for regional stability and peace would be for Trump’s administration to use its influence with Israel to work towards a rapproachment with the Syrian.government. Bibi Netanyahu has been caught making an attack against the Iranian drone base on Syrian sovereign territory ,an incident which highlights the direct involvement of Israel in the Syrian war. It is no secret that US and Israeli policy has been to support,albeit indirectly, those groups that comprise the FSA that are fighting against the Assad regime’s forces as well as the ISIS. Before Trump came directly under the direct pressure of the shadow government that was controlling Barack Obama’s foreign policy ,he had stated that he believes that Assad is the sovereign ,democratically elected ruler of Syria..However,after French intelligence formally accused Assad of using chemicals against civilians in the absence of any evidence or logical motivation,the Trump administration entered into the Syrian war by launching multiple cruise missiles against a Syrian Ground-to-Air missile defence installation and military airfield outside Damascus in April 2017 in response to the alleged chemical attack. Russia knows that Assad has never used chemical warfare. and for this reason Russian prime minister Medvedev warned the US as far back as May 2013 that any attacks by the United States against the sovereign nation of Syria would escalate the civil war to a nuclear confrontation and he said this in response to Obama;s :”Red Line” warning to Assad that the United States would intervene directly against him if he used chemical warfare against civilians,obviously preparing the way for the false-flag chemical attack that occurred in August 2013 that French,British and US intelligence blamed on Assad without any evidence against him. French intelligence tried to frame Assad again for using chemical weapons in April of 2017 and Trump then decided that he couldn’t afford to be seen to be in public disagreement with France , the strongest continental European NATO ally of the USA.. The obvious route to a peaceful conclusion to the Syrian conflict AND a de-escalation of the tensions between the western powers allied with the Saudi-backed Sunni forces and the Russian-Syrian-Iranian alliance would be an immediate cessation of support by the NATO alliance for the FSA and all those groups still fighting against the Syrian government.
