ISIS Shares Photos From Recent Attacks On Iraqi Government Forces In Kirkuk

ISIS’s news agency, Amaq, has released footage documenting two of the terrorist group’s recent attacks on Iraqi government forces in the northern province of Kirkuk.

On September 29, Amaq released footage showing an attack with an improvised explosive device on a Humvee armored vehicle of the Federal Police near the village of Ras Darb in the district of Daquq. The attack, which took place on September 24, destroyed the vehicle. However, there were no casualties.

On September 30, photos showing a mortar attack on a post of the Federal Police near the village of al-Khashah were released. The attack took place just a day earlier, on September 29. No casualties were reported back then.

ISIS cells have been very active in Kirkuk. The terrorists have carried out at least eight attacks on Iraqi government forces in the province since the start of September.

Iraqi government forces stepped up their counter-terrorism operations in Kirkuk recently. Earlier this month, several terrorists of ISIS, including field commanders, were neutralized in operations carried out by the air force and different intelligence agencies.

Despite all recent operations, ISIS influence remains strong in Kirkuk. The terrorist group has been benefiting from a territorial dispute between the Iraqi federal government the regional government in Kurdistan that left some parts of the province unguarded.
