On September 16, ISIS official newspaper, al-Naba, shared an infographic summarizing the terrorist group’s recent operations in Iraq.

According to the infographic, ISIS terrorists carried out a total of 46 operations in Iraq between the 1st and 15th of September.

Al-Naba claimed that 108 Iraqi civilians and service members were killed in the operations as follows:

  • 34 people were killed in the northern province of Kirkuk, where 15 operations took place;
  • 31 people were killed in the eastern province of Diyala, where 15 operations took place;
  • 28 people were killed in the northern province of Nineveh, where 9 operations took place;
  • 9 people were killed around the capital, Baghdad, where 10 operations took place;
  • 6 people were killed in the western province of al-Anbar, where 2 operations took place.

The terrorist group’s operations included 15 attacks with improvised explosive devices, 17 hit-and-run attacks and an ambush.

As a result of the operations, 30 vehicles were destroyed or damaged, 6 military posts were damaged, 10 surveillance cameras were destroyed and an electricity transformer was sabotaged.

ISIS may have exaggerated the results of its recent operations in Iraq. However, there is no denying that the terrorist group intensified its operations in the war-torn country in the last few months.

While ISIS will not likely re-establish its “Caliphate” anytime soon, it remains a real threat to the security and stability of Iraq and the rest of he Middle East.
