ISIS Shelling Killed Russian General Near Deir Ezzor City

An ISIS shelling has killed Russia’s Lieutenant General Valery Asapov near Deir Ezzor city, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

According to the ministry, the general died after sustaining a “fatal injury” in the “sudden Daesh [ISIS] mortar shelling.” The incident took place when Asapov was at a command outpost manned by Syrian troops, assisting commanders in the liberation of Deir Ezzor.

The killed general will receive a state award posthumously.

According to the Russian media, Asapov was a commander of Russian task forces in Deir Ezzor and Raqqah provinces.

Earlier in September, the Syrian Arab Army, supported by the Russian military, broke the ISIS siege on Deir Ezzor city and Dier Ezzor Airport and launched a large-scale against ISIS in the countryside of the city.

My condolences to the Russian Military. ISIS/ISIS Sympathizer’s, have targeted your country, during an interrogation I had conducted, in December 2016 to Richard Bringard, also, in regards to the proven diversion tactics, and simultaneous attacks the terror group ISIS “claims responsibility” for, I had seen to there the Russian Ambassador to the United Nations had passed away. As to why, toxicology reports are very important to an investigation, many medicines can mimic cardiac arrests. In regards to the fatal wound of the General, my condolences, forensics should be able to confirm the trajectory.

Drinas

And after this, the Kremlin will simply abandon the eastern Euphrates oil fields to the dogs of the USA- either they call themselves SDF or ISIS? Will Russia finally wake up and do what must be done to win this war or will Putin and Lavrov keep talking about “our American partners”?

Vitex

I’ve been thinking about that. I’m as angry as anyone who’s watching this war. It is palpably unfair, with the US clandestinely weighing in on the side of ISIS (or the other way around). However, Russia is a relatively small dog, and does not want to trigger war with the big dog either. It will be interesting to see how the Russians react. They have been clever and diplomatic, and decisive when they need to be. I believe the Russians are better strategists than the US and are unlikely to overreact. And, as noted above, the odd general is supposed to die in wars.

SOF

Your sentiments same as mine. Russians could come in and lay waste in an instant, as we saw a glimpse of with the insane attempt to capture Russian military police in Hama, but unlike the United States culture they have long term goals in mind they do not want to scuttle for a brief moment of ‘shock and awe’.

Sad news.

Looks like he lost his way and ended up on the battlefield where he ate (precision-guided) mortar shell…

Sad.

Stavros Hadjiyiannis

The Americans are now directly targeting Russian Generals. Retaliation must be swift and painful.

Belomi

And how do you know the Americans targeted Russian soldiers? What do you expect in war. Americans sustained casualties as well. The article stated ISIS. Don’t be a hater. My utmost respect to soldiers of freedom, both Americans and Russians. RIP!

Simon Gould

How can the invaders – America – be “soldiers of freedom” ?

RamboDave

This was probably a GPS guided artillery shell. It is the latest US technology. There was a Sixty Minutes segment on it a few months ago. It probably has range of 22 miles. It could have come from one of those special forces outposts discovered by Russia.

Graeme Rymill

The Russian Defence Ministry says it was a mortar. Are you saying the Russians can’t tell the difference between an 82mm or 120mm mortar and a 155mm artillery shell?

TiredOfBsToo

What’s really amazing is how lucky those jihadis are ALL of the time with their mortars. It is truly amazing that the jiahdis have: tanks, armor, apcs, missile launchers, spotters, intelligence ….. Even revolutionary fighters weren’t so well equipped. Makes you wonder how for example, SDF fighters can pass through ISIS territory near Deir-Ezzor without a fight in order to get to the oil fields before the SAA. Makes you wonder how the water from the Euphrates seems to rise magically without rainfall. Makes you wonder how those ISIS mortar crews know just when and where the Russian officers are and how to strike them quickly and in a surprise attack. Makes you wonder how ISIS is always able to follow up a Coalition accidental strike on a long held SAA position. NOT!!!

RichardD

You forgot their CIA, Mossad, Saudi and other embedded intel officer handlers with the various rebel groups, including Isis. With their sat phones and sat mobile broadband hot spots for their computers taking orders and directing operations from Langley, Tel Aviv, etc.. With their on call helos to get them out before they get captured and leaving Joe jihad behind as worm feed and cannon fodder.

TiredOfBsToo

I was being sarcastic hence my “NOT!” at the end. Everyone knows there was no luck involved and the entities behind it all. Also aware of the Iraqi Kurdistan issue which is going to get very interesting.

Vitex

You’re kidding, right? The US is clearly operating in lockstep with ISIS – moving through ISIS areas without setting up defensive perimeters or fire bases – undertaking bombing and fire missions on SAA targets. Americans have NEVER been soldiers of freedom in the 20th or 21st century and if you think so you’re deluded. Every single US deployment is for some larger banker’s war

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Many forget what General Schmedley Butler said about all wars being banker wars as they fund both sides.

People should look up videos on him he was what you could classify a real “Freedom Fighter” and “Truth Seeker” since he started to talk about his war experience to audiences before his death and world war 2.

Valery Grigoryev

You are not right: during WW2 the US troops and industry had really been a soldiers of freedom, they played great role, and, particularly, helped us, Russians, a lot. Don’t mix up wars for the liberation with ones accomplished for the interest of international banking system.

Vitex

I’ll go with the vote.

Igor Dano

Haha, they have done it for money. At the begining they propprd up Nazis witg money and material, IG farben was a company of Prescott Bush the father of Bush 41, Bank houses of Harriman, Kuhn and Loeb have been lau dering Nazi money in thirties.

Then they have been helping Britain and Russia. Britain paid last instollment ofthe war debt to US treasury in2015, no time to google the message, but u can, and Russia paid their debt earlier, but it was a barter, traded arround 4 corners. U seem to be russian, 7 might know it.

US troops and industry have never been soldiers of freedom.

FlorianGeyer

I am sure it will be. :)

ghartwell

Because Russia has the coordinates of command and control posts and ammunitions dumps. At a time like this the Russian bear makes a swipe with her paws and cruise missiles take out some of these prime targets.

Thegr8rambino

I would not mind seeing that colonel Ryan Dillon getting wiped out LOL!!

electron

So it appears the SDF-coalition stuck to their threats and carried out a guided artillery hit on his position. To see RF abandon drive for Omar field adds insult to injury.

When was the last time a US general was KIA? Now we know where the men are.

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

Oh. BTW. A forward command post is not “just accidentally shelled.” It was targeted. We know by whom.

RamboDave

Could this be a GPS guided artillery shell? It is the latest US technology. There was a Sixty Minutes segment on it a few months ago.

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

As far as I know there are no 155s in that AO. But all that is needed is precise GPS coordinates and a Close Sheaf mortar stonk.

Solomon Krupacek

lot of generals died in syria. all were accidental targets. also this general.

Julius Meinel

Difficult to say what it really was. I have noticed from various reports that most Russian ground casualties in Syria were to be traced back to those pesky mortars.

They are cheap, easy to operate and more importantly can fire from behind fortified potion or hills without exposing its crew to direct enemy fire. The question is indeed, whether ISIS just had a random ,lucky hit or whether they were being feed intelligence through various back channels. I tend to think the latter is the most likely cause with CIA ground operators supplying the info the jihadist in real time.

Much like the SF community here, at this point I am eagerly waiting for an adequate Russian support. After all, they have lost one of their more experienced front line commanders. So no business as usual anymore vis-a-vis the US troops in Syria ( or elsewhere for that matter)

Belomi

You Russians should get over your hate against Americans, CIA. Shit happens in war. Even friendly fire kills, not to mention enemies mortars. The US has an agenda against ISIS- simply to eradicate them. Americans and Russians are on the same side, and stop binging on your state media disinformation against Americans. It’s like you guys are so obsessed with so much hate against Americans. The US sustained casualties as well. It’s honorable to see Russian and Americans on both sides. Reminds me of WW2. My respect to the fallen

Andres Rives

Belomi – I’m an American and i’ll say this – if you DON’T hate America, you haven’t got a heart, a conscience, or even a brain. USA has taken out at least 20 million since WW2 – 3-4 million iin Korea alone – Fascist coup d’etat around the world – Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, etc — you need to fiind SOME integrity, SOME morality, or else just get yourself of this planet quietly and without much notice.

Solomon Krupacek

GEN Greene, killed in a “Blue on Green” attack in Afghanistan, 2014. Office weenie. Not “in action.”

Graeme Rymill

How is being killed by a jihadist, regardless of the uniform he wears, not killed in action?

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

Not “on the line,” not in action, not in peril. (Like Asparov.) How is being killed in an office in a “workplace violence” shooting /action/?

Cybirr

I’m guessing you are not a real soldier. Maybe/Probably a REMF that has something less than an honorable discharge on your DD214.

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

Being a civilian… How sad for you.

Solomon Krupacek

civilian who is barking on soldiers :P

IH8Lies

Feel better now?

opereta

A jihadist US Oficer kills a whole bunch of US Soldiers at a US Military Base in the continental USA…..none of the victims where “in line” at the time….none where killed in action… I can explain it with apples too.

SKY

Yes but this is not General Kill or KIA, this guy as usual as US general were going to see some of the camps and the men always with his guards and shit and a Taliban dressed as Afghan Soldier Assassinated him there..He was not in action or anything with his fellow officers,US generals do not go to war that’s one thing you should know, They are miles miles behind it watching from drones.

Solomon Krupacek

otherwise general should not be in the first frontline. this was mistake of russian headquarter. the general was brave, but really, he should not be there.

Tudor Miron

That’s westen mentality. Suvorov stated that field general should be in the frontlines showing example to his soldiers. That’s different than “lets send this cannon fodder in and see our wallets grow as they die”.

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

Exactly.

Solomon Krupacek

boy, in which century lived suvorov??????

Tudor Miron

Those that don’t learn from their Fathers are doomed to repeat their mistakes without a chance to learn from their victories.

Solomon Krupacek

yes, the wise learned that general should be 30-40 km behind frontline :P

Hassan Ghonem

Generals are not immortals and this FOB was away from the frontlines to be considered safe, except if you are stupid enough to think that isis are the ones who targeted this position to assasinate the Russian general in order to send a message to Putin, while he could also be the only casualty in this attack which proves the point of the message.

Igor Dano

Have you ever thought of Napoleon, or Erwin Rommel, or admirals, being ” traped” on a battle ship?

Solomon Krupacek

napoleon times were quite other. and rommel is exception. loss of general can be also the loss of army

Cybirr

“Now we know where the men are.”

Well, the smart ones are not exposing themselves to mortar or tube artillery, now are they?

SFC Steven M Barry USA RET

You would make a perfect US general.

Valery Grigoryev

This is THE WAR. Shit happens…

Bob

Troll on elsewhere – your insipid and disrespectful remarks not required here.

That’s what happen when you don’t overarm your close ally. A strong Syria is a strong ally. A weak Syria is a weak ally.

If it was me, I will have given vest weapons to SAA 20 years ago.

Daniel

20 years ago Russia was as good as bankrupt with outdated weapons, but I get what you mean. I just think Russia is keeping most for themselves as they are under constant threat of attack.

Michalis Kane

Lets see the answer of the Russians now

Dennis Morgan

RIP General

WinstonSmith

Russian generals actually go to the battlefield, good on Russia, and great loss. ISIS obviously uses advanced intelligence, like US/ISraeli more precisely, to be able to tell where Russian generals are deployed. This deserves a harsh response, Muricunts are obviously not Russia’s colleagues; US is ISIS colleagues.

Who provided IS with Intel and coordinates? Uncle Sam?

May the lord have mercy upon his soul and walk in peace.

Psssst Yankikes, your level of IQ would be an insult even to Bugs, witch I know have an brain capacity most of you never will reach, yeah, the dumbest, most brainwashed, morons that walks on this planet. The only competition that they have, in the foggy bottom of the pit, is the NorDicks, that daily projects ignorance and downright stupidity to an level that is simply stunning, its so bad its funny, despite the graveness, the Norse is hilariously stupid and numbed.

If I was the Russians I would be calm, let them have their ball, for an while, we all know that this was an uISISa guided event, only the Yankikes have that kind of inlet, and I cant imagine the shit heads have that, and then feed the exact moment to whatever caster they posses, an shelling from one of this is usually not that accurate, and the impact is not either that massive, but it does some damages, and to then pin point an persons movements needs inlet to be precise, so all in all, this was an revenge from the Yankikes from the last days events.

Then, I would just take my time, map the traffic, the commando lines, because an Yankike will not fart without been told to do so, yeah, how high. Get it. And when the time is right, just vaporize the top of the rat chain, level everything to gravel.

peace

FlorianGeyer

We are in the lull before the ‘shit storm ‘ that is about to engulf the US cowboys in Syria I think.

EmilyEnso

I hope. Annihilate them. They have no right to be there for a start.

Graeme Rymill

The usual hysteria in the SF comments section. Hundreds, if not thousands, of SAA soldiers have died from ISIS mortars. One Russian General dies and it is automatically a US conspiracy.

Do you really think the Russian Ministry of Defence would describe it as an ISIS mortar attack if they really knew it to be a US precision artillery strike? Of if they had any evidence of the US passing targeting information to ISIS?

There are plenty of other allegations flying around from the Russian Ministry of Defence over the recent behaviour of the US. Why go quiet on this one? Here’s a clue…. because it wasn’t the US!!!

RichardD

It’s well known that Mossad, CIA and numerous other regime change supporters are embedded with and directing various regime change elements including Isis. So suspicions that they targeted the general are certainly reasonable.

Tudor Miron

Yes Richard, it’s a well known zio troll.

bcbingram

agreed

FlorianGeyer

If it was not the US it was their Israeli masters and co sodomites.

Graeme Rymill

From a story that appeared on CNN today, I don’t know if it was before or after the Russian officer lost his life:

“The goal is to ensure that US forces continue to know the location of Russian forces, ***especially those in eastern Syria, at all times,*** said the official, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter. Surveillance and reconnaissance levels routinely fluctuate based on threats.”

(Emphasis mine)

http://us.cnn.com/2017/09/24/politics/us-boosts-surveillance-russia-syria/index.html

So the us feels it’s important to know Russian positions at all times, and to telegraph this information via the press on the same day a Russian officer is killed. Interesting.
