ISIS news agency, Amaq, announced on January 1 that ISIS terrorists had ambushed a unit of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the central region.
The ambush took place in the eastern Hama countryside on December 30. The terrorists targeted the unit, which was moving aboard a vehicle, with an improvised explosive device.
“[The vehicle] was destroyed, everyone aboard was either killed or wounded,” a press release by Amaq reads.
Earlier on the same day, ISIS terrorists ambushed a bus near the village of Kabbajb on the M20 highway, which links the cities of Homs and Deir Ezzor.
Amaq claimed that 40 Syrian service members were killed and many others were injured in the ambush. Nevertheless, the Syrian Arab News Agency said 25 people, including civilians, were killed and 13 others were injured in the attack.
The recent ISIS attacks in the central region show how the group’s growing presence there. ISIS cells have started to carry out larger, bolder attacks.
The SAA and its allies have failed to contain ISIS terrorists within the Homs desert. The terrorists are now active in the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqa triangle as well as in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.
A new, more aggressive military approach is needed to address the growing threat of ISIS in Syria’s central region. The SAA and its allies still have to contribute notable efforts to put an end to the terrorist group’s presence in the region.
AL TANF
After the completion of the desert offensive in 2017, the SAA left a large pocket between the Homs and Deir ez-Zor provinces to know where all the ISIS terrorists hide, because the SAA couldn’t fully clear the desert from ISIS, due to the US enclave in At-Tanf. With the Idlib operation being stalled, the SAA couldn’t clear the terror hotbed, while there was still a threat in the desert, but the SAA could’t send most elite forces from Idlib to the desert, because Turkey actively supplies the Idlib rats with weapons and equipment.
ISIS terrorists then used the opportunity of the lacking SAA presence to sneak into the government “controlled” part and set up many sleeper cells there.
When the SAA won’t quickly clear Idlib, then more and more soldiers in the desert will die and attacks like the one few days ago, will happen more often.

Exactly. The situation in Syria is a stalemate now. The situations in the desert and Daraa is getting worse and worse and the SAA is still yet to attack Idlib, because of Putin’s stupid diplomatic ties with the Al-qaeda “president” Erdodog.
When the desert and Daraa would be stable and safe and the SAA would still not attack Idlib, then that would be something different. Then the SAA could fully focus on Idlib without having the risk of getting attacked from behind, but they don’t attack Idlib, while the situation in other regions is getting more dangerous the more the SAA waits to retake Idlib.

Those arent M4s. Sorry to dissapoint you. They are full sized M-16s with buttstock and full auto fire select feature. These are only used by U.S. spec ops. You cant buy these at your local gunstore. Also it made by FN under Colt license, they make a lot better quality than Colt. Others use M16A2 or A4.

Between the M4 and M16? M4 is shorter overall with an adjustable buttstock its origins are in Vietnam and the CAR-15 used by Army Rangers and SEAL. The only advantage it offers is smaller size more handy in close quarter battles. But the M-16 is superior in reliabilty and ballistics. Nowdays only the U.S. Army favors the M-16 over the M4.
How about marines? As far as I know M4 is official rifle of American military. Anyways they could have give them Kalashnikovs. All says Kalashnikov is far better, modern versions than M this or m that. Even dough 7.62×39 are for export and 5.45×39 chambered are only used by Russian Army.
A piston driven rifle will always be more reliable than a DI system, no question about it. U.S. Army is using the M16/A4 currently. Marines are switching to the IAR-27 a copy of the Hk-416 with short stroke piston system. They weren’t allowed to buy expensive His so they simply copied it. Marines have their own offensive production facility, they can produce small arms themselves if they want. They made a wise decision.
And they never win any War even if they produce weapons themselves. Kalashnikov is by far better option. Any rifle chambered with trusty 8x57mm Mauser is superb in any way.
