Late on April 27, ISIS terrorists raided a post of the Iraqi military in the southern countryside of the western province of al-Anbar.

ISIS terrorists stormed the post, which is located on the border with Saudi Arabia, without facing any real resistance. The post’s personnel fled, leaving behind their weapons and equipment. The terrorists withdrew from the post after setting it on fire.

The Amaq news agency shared photos of the raid. The photos show weapons and ammunition, which were seized by ISIS terrorists.

The weapons included six AK-type assault rifles, two PKC-type machine guns as well as two RPG-type rocket-propelled grenades launchers along with six rounds.

Al-Anbar’s desert has been a stronghold of ISIS, formerly known as the Islamic State in Iraq, since the early 2000s. However, the terrorist group rarely approaches the province’s border with Saudi Arabia.

On September 2 last year, ISIS cells ambushed a unit of the Iraqi militants near the Arar border crossing with Saudi Arabia. A number of soldiers were killed or injured.
