On November 22, ISIS news agency, Amaq, released photos of recent attacks by the terrorist group’s cells in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
The photos show attacks on a bulldozer and an armored personnel carrier of the Egyptian Armed Forces. The vehicles were targeted west of the city of Sheikh Zuweid, which is located in the northern part of Sinai.
Both vehicles were targeted with heavy improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were likely equipped with remotely-controlled detonators.
Most of ISIS’ recent attacks in Sinai were carried out with IEDs or sniper rifles, which provide the group with a low-cost, low-risk way to inflict losses on the Egyptian Armed Forces.
While the group’s cells are inflicting some heavy losses on Egyptian government forces, they are failing to expand their influence in Sinai.
The Egyptian military and security forces are carrying out operations in the region on a regular basis. The Egyptian Air Force is also playing an active role against the terrorist group’s insurgency.
I wonder where you get those type of explosives in the Sinai ? Where could they be coming from ? There must be a source very near by. But who NOSE where that could be ? I just cant wrap my moyekh around it.
