Israel, the United States and several NATO states held a large-scale military drill “Blue Flag 2019” in Israel. The drill took place on November 3-14 at the Uvda Air Force base north of Eilat.
The Blue Flag 2019 involved five countries, 70 aircraft, including F-35I, and approximately 1,000 participants, the Israeli military reported (source):
The countries which arrived to train are Germany, with the Eurofighter Typhoon; Italy with the F-35, Eurofighters and Gulfstream G-550; and Greece and the United States with the F-16. The Israeli participants include the “Baz” (F-15), the “Sufa” (F-16I) and the “Adir”.

The storyline guiding the exercise was based on two fictional neighboring countries, one blue and the other red. The scenarios included large aircraft formations, including fighter jets, RPAVs (Remotely Piloted Aerial Vehicles), transport aircraft and helicopters.
The blue force’s mission during the first week of the exercise was protecting Israel’s skies against various enemy threats. “Sky defense isn’t common in NATO countries”, explained Lt. Col. M’, Commander of the 133rd (“Knights of the Twin Tail”) Squadron.

During the second week, the blue forces took off to attack targets in red force territory. “The blue forces have to utilize everything at their platforms’ disposal in order to perform their mission successfully”, continued Lt. Col. M’. “The F-35 aircraft brings a significant advantage to the theatre, which allows the other aircraft to carry on with their missions while handling oncoming threats”.
The red force was made up of the force’s aggressor squadron – the 115th (“Flying Dragon”) Squadron – and the Air Defense Array’s “Yahalom” (Patriot) batteries, which acted as advanced SAM (Surface-to-Air Missile) systems. “The red force provides a significant challenge”, said Lt. Col. Panagiotis Katsikaris, Commander of the Hellenic Air Force’s 335th Squadron. “The reds started out easy during the first few flights, but we noticed their tactics changing as the days went by. They operated differently each day, and we had to act accordingly. Thanks to our mutual operation, we learned valuable lessons with each day”.
This is the most advanced international Air Force exercise in Israel’s history.

Several pro-Israeli media outlets and military experts speculated that the Red Team’s Patriot surface-to-air missile systems simulated Russia’s S-300 and S-400 air defense systems that were overcome by the Israeli-US force.
The success demonstrated by US-made Patriot missiles in Saudi Arabia, where they defended a half of Saudi oil production from Houthi strikes, is widely-known for the international audience. So, what could possibly go wrong?

Russia needs to use its S-400 and should not use them for decoration. A no-fly zone for all unauthorized aircraft should be announced asap.
Some pilots in the exercise will panic when they see the beep beep on their radar warning system, that their planes have been locked by “mysterious missiles” who start targeting them from their takeoff until landing. And yeah .. of course they will not say anything to the public when they land, other than “all is well, the exercise went successfully, the enemy was neutralized”. (while secretly going to the toilet to change their diaper).
The Patriot is no substitute for the S400 so any exercises to overcome it need to be tested against the real thing which they dont have.
Maybe Russia should give the Jews a live fire exercise and see how good their pilots are ;}

I don’t get how it’s about money or sanctions, I wrote that if they try to get nuclear bombs to destroy us then we need to stop them and blow up their reactor with all the nuclear material inside. We always try to hit only Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq, our war is not against the Syrian or Iraqi people. The Palestinian president refuses to any negotiations without Gaza, its not up to Israel. I don’t think we can separate the two, a peace deal is about both territories. As far as I understand it, the F-35 ‘stealth’ (i.e reduced detection radar cross-section and radar absorbent coating) is it’s own major vulnerability, in that unlike something like a FA-18 that get’s detected earlier by radar and therefore more reaction time to bugout for it’s pilot, the stealth strike fighter is detected further into the opponents air defense killzone and therefore has far fewer seconds to react and evade surface to air missiles.
It will get detected and it will get engaged and shot down.

Thanks, and yes, a serious matter. I think it will be extraordinarily difficult to emulate the S-400, a system very different from the Patriot System regardless of how effective are the respective Systems. Also, no mention of emulating command and control and operators of the system.
The drills may give pilots more confidence but confidence does not prevent detection and liquidation of targeted aircraft – jets with confident pilots blow up just as well.

I do live in central Israel, and I think a war with Iran might happen but not now. Both countries have internal issues they have to fix first and it’s more important, so it’s not good to any side.

Sure, some of my best friends are Arabs. In Israel we have no problem with each other, we have alot of mutual respect and they work, live ,study just like me and they are part of Israel. Most definitely. It will take lots of planning and electronic warfare – which the IDF is very good at. Look at 2007, IDF completely jammed all Syrian air defense units, blinding their radars, and used F-15s to fly into Syria (which are NOT stealth) and they successfully destroyed the regime’s nuclear reactors
