Israel would not limit its actions to Syria if it felt the need to deal with “Iranian threats” in the region, the country’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman claimed on September 3, according to Reuters.
“We are certainly monitoring everything that is happening in Syria, and regarding Iranian threats, we are not limiting ourselves just to Syrian territory. This also needs to be clear,” Lieberman said speaking at a news conference in Jerusalem.
Lieberman’s remarks followed a Reuters report on the alleged deployment of Iranian ballistic missiles in Iraq. The report was already denounced as “fabricated” by the Iranian Foreign Ministry. However, the Israeli-Iranian tensions are high enough to ingore official statements of each other.
“I’m saying that we will handle any Iranian threat, no matter where it comes from…Israel’s freedom is total. We retain this freedom of action,” Lieberman said in response to question if there is a possibility of Israeli strikes on Iranian targets in Iraq.
The US and its key regional allies – Israel and Saudi Arabia are conducting a large-scale propaganda and diplomatic campaign aimed at limiting the Iranian influence in the Middle East. Israel also supports this campaign by striking alleged Iranian targets in war-torn Syria.

I don´t know what the policy-makers in Israel want to achieve in the long term. Their whole involvement in Syria makes no sense and their hardline policies towards the Iran and the Hezbollah won´t give them any strategic advantage whatsoever. In fact, Assad is the lesser of the two evils and should be (if not actively supported) tolerated by Israel since he provides at least some sort of stability unlike the sunni-terrorists. The plan of removing Assad has failed, and now Israel must work towards a diplomatic agreement with Assad and its allies (simply because his regime will remain in Syria for a long time, and also the “Iranian threat” won´t just disappear through baseless threats). Of course, the usual antisemites and Assad-apologists on Southfront advocate for the destruction of Israel, but also this illusion will never become a reality.

After France fell, an invasion of Britain required air superiority to interdict the British navy. I do not believe so. Historically, the Jews are the least religious of all religious people. The vast majority of them do not practice a damn word in the Talmud or anything of the sort. The ONLY part of the Talmud that the vast majority of them do believe in is the part that calls them special. This is because they are historically an ambitious and proud people. A part from a few customs and holidays and the part about them being the best people ever, they don’t really believe in anything else for the most part.
