On November 13, the IDF’s Golani brigade took control of the Gaza Parliament building in Gaza City. This was confirmed by footage from the area. The Palestinian Legislative Council building in Gaza has served Hamas lawmakers since gaining control of the Gaza Strip after elections in 2007.
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces announced that the Palestinian group had allegedly lost control of the Gaza Strip. The IDF said that its chief of staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, approved action plans to protect Israeli territories and instructed the Northern Command to maintain a high level of readiness.
However, Israeli claims were not confirmed by Hamas sources. On the evening of November 13, Hamas military spokesman claimed that the Israeli leadership can only dream about erasing Hamas. Militants reportedly attacked 20 Israeli vehicles in the last 48 hours.
The Hamas spokesman added that Hamas agreed to release 100 prisoners in exchange for a 5-day ceasefire. Israel refused and wasted time. In its turn, Qatar attempted to mediate release of women and children from Israeli prisoners in exchange for Israeli women and children in Gaza. Negotiations are yet to bring any results.
