On November 22, Hezbollah launched at least 11 attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from southern Lebanon in support of the Gaza Strip.
The group’s fighters shelled the military sites of Bayad Blida and Ramia as well as the barracks of Mitat and Yiftah Barracks with various weapons. They also targeted several gatherings of troops and equipment of the IDF close to the sites of Bayad Blida, al-Raheb, al-Malikiyah, Horsh Hanita and Zarit Barracks.
The attacks were carried out “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah said in the statements announcing the attacks.
In response to the attacks, IDF said its fighter jets carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. The targets included a military compound where fighters of the group were gathered and other infrastructure. Video footage of the strikes were released.
Lebanese media also reported Israeli artillery strikes on the towns and villages of al-Dhahira, Tair Harfa, Alma al-Shaab, Mays al-Jabal, Kafr Kila, Aitaroun, Aita al-Shaab, al-Qulaya, al-Hamams, al-Wazzani, Marwahin, Shihin and Blida in southern Lebanon. There were no civilian casualties. However, Hezbollah mourned one of its fighters.
Hezbollah and its allies have had near-daily exchanges of fire with the IDF along the Israeli-Lebanese border since the October 7 Hamas-led surprise attack from Gaza.
So far, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of six IDF troops, three Israeli civilians, 77 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, one fighter from the Lebanese Resistance Regiments, seven fighters from the Hamas Movement, four fighters from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and 12 Lebanese civilians.
According to several reports Hezbollah will take part in the temporary ceasefire in Gaza agreed upon by Israel and Hamas and cease all attacks from southern Lebanon. However, it is still unclear if the IDF will also pause strikes on this front.
