Two more members of Hezbollah were killed in strikes that targeted southern Lebanon, the heartland of the group, on June 1, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claiming responsibility.
The IDF said in a statement that the first strike, carried out in the town of Arnoun targeted a member of Hezbollah’s anti-tank unit. Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed that one person was killed in the “Israeli enemy strike” on a motorcycle in the town.

The health ministry later announced that another person was killed in an Israeli strike that “targeted a vehicle on the Debl road” in the Bint Jbeil district. The IDF claimed responsibility for the strike in a separate statement, saying a drone strike in the town of Ayta ash-Shab killed a member of Hezbollah’s rocket unit.
A third strike on a car in the nearby town of Beit Lif wounded one person, according to the ministry. There was no comment from the IDF.

Israel strikes have reportedly killed more than 180 members of Hezbollah since a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States came into effect last November. The IDF has also refused to completely withdraw from southern Lebanon in line with the agreement, keeping troops at five strategic posts in the region.
Hezbollah, which took heavy losses in the last confrontation with the IDF, has so far refrained from responding in any shape or form.
The group has been adhering to the agreement. It withdrew most of its forces from southern Lebanon to the north of the Litani River. Most of the group’s infrastructure and weapon stashes have been also dismantled by the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Despite this, the IDF appears to be determined to escalate even further against the group. In fact, Israel could soon renew the war on Lebanon, as it did in the Gaza Strip earlier this year.
