On December 6, the Israeli Air Force officially declared its fleet of F-35I warplanes operational.

According to Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, the warplanes will give Israel new capabilities to confront the “constantly evolving and complex challenges” in the region.

The F-35s are operated by the Golden Eagle Squadron, based in the Nevatim Air Base in central Israel.

“The announcement of the operationalization of the ‘Adir’ [F-35I] aircraft comes at a time in which the IAF is operating on a large scale on a number of fronts in a dynamic Middle East,” he said.

Currently, Israel has nine F-35I warplanes. It will receive 41 more warplanes from the US over the coming years.

Meanwhile, reports appeared that a F-35 warplane deployed in Japan lost part of its fuselage, during a “routine training mission”. The incident took place near Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, on November 30.

The lost panel is about 30*60 centimeters. The fact was noticed by the F-35’s wingman as the aircraft was in the process of landing.

According to reports, the panel was broken during the flight. Most likely, the F-35 was thoroughly inspected ahead of the takeoff.

F-35 for israel. F-35 for Japan.

like I have said so f… times, USA is winning because USA help his allies.

Colombia have better weapons than Syria. XD.

Barba_Papa

The US cripples its allies, because it forces them to buy this overpriced flying lemon, instead of allowing them to shop around for an aircraft that is more suitable for their needs. Not to mention their budgets.

Except Israel of course, they get the flying lemon free of charge, courtesy of the US tax payer.

You can call me Al

But it states that the Israelis get the F-35I …..would how that differs from others ?.

Garga

Yes it is different (I learnt that here on this board). It’s less lemon-ey, but still a lemon.

George King

Lipstick on a pig is still a pig.

Hahahaha – lol clever one.

like iran. it´s less sunni then in saudi arabia, but still shit.

Barba_Papa

Unlike America’s allies, which get the export model without the good stuff that make it decent, Israel will probably get the same version as the USAF. With all the good stuff. And probably some Israeli good stuff thrown in there as well. The US tax payer has to throw a boon towards the Israeli defense industry as well after all.

You can call me Al

Maybe the addition of a little round hat and a wall ?

Bobby Twoshoes

The USA is losing because its hegemonic obsession doesn’t allow for allies, only vassals and enemies. Columbia have been paying for arms with their sovereignty for almost half a century and I’d still be putting my money on the SAA.

Promitheas Apollonious

well when turks get involved in building something, always must be expected poor quality at the finish. And if I am not mistaken they handle the fuselage end of the deal.

Serious

XD. Nothing better than made in Germany. XD.

Promitheas Apollonious

I disagree, but then, is a matter of opinion. We seen how the Leopards fared in middle east and also seen their failures in many levels. But they do make good cars, not as reliable as the japanese, but better than the american cars any way.

Serious

Germans are not at full power. They are slowed by Americans. Otherwise, most of german products are very high-level quality.

In terms of cars, Italians are the best. Even Fiat is a very good brand.

Italians make also very good helicopters.

Italians are underrated in my point of view.

Promitheas Apollonious

not a fun of germans and their practices and yes you right they never been a full power or ever will become one. Always been under the control of the zionists. Not very familiar with italian cars, never own one to know them. They look nice on the road but I prefer audis for europe travel and Jags for racing locally.

I don’t think its fair to judge the Leopard 2 based on the poor handling of the Turkish army, which also used older models, without any of the armor upgrades that have been introduced since the 90’s. Are we going to judge Russian tanks purely on the way that Saddam’s Iraqi army and many SAA units have shown? Hell, even the M1 Abrams, which did very well in both Gulf Wars in the hands of the US Army, got shot to pieces in the hands of the inept Saudi army.

The only problem the Leopard 2 has is that it was never really used in combat by a competent army. Although I hear the Canadians and Danes used a few of them in Afghanistan without problems.

Promitheas Apollonious

Judging from the Russian tanks that had direct hits and survived the ordeal and what happened to the western tanks, I must ask what you mean by competent army.. One that face unarmed civilians?

In Afghanistan the tanks fair well due to lack of proper antitank weapons, not because are good. As for the case of M1 was in full reactive armor and still been destroyed so I don’t favor one for the other just judge by the results. Beside the fact it is my business to know so I have personal interest in armored vehicles and their short comings.

Barba_Papa

In both Gulf Wars Russian T-72’s got shot to pieces like they were made out of cardboard. In Syria SAA T-72’s also got chewed to pieces by ATGW’s. Hell, SAA T-72’s already got shot to pieces by Israeli armor in the 1982 Lebanon war. Neither Saddam’s Iraqi army, nor the SAA exactly qualify as armies with a good history of competency. In competent hands though, the Russians in Georgia 2008, and elite SAA units, T-72’s faired a lot better. Ergo, whoever handles the tanks, monkeys or actual soldiers, matters greatly. Considering the poor handling of the Leo2 (model A4, a late 80’s model) by the Turks I don’t think its fair to judge the Leo 2 on that, just like it was not fair to judge the T-72, based on how the Iraqis and Syrians mishandled theirs.

As for the M1 being full of reactive armor, not the Saudi models, nor the Iraqi models. They got the export versions, as depleted uranium armor is US only.

John Whitehot

Iraqi T-72 were of the first export model ever done and had only a APDS round made to not be able to pierce the armor of Soviet tanks. They were also lacking all the rangefinding capability of the non-export versions.

The point is that there is a much larger difference than what Turkey has deployed in Syria with state of the art of the respective parent country.

Barba_Papa

Again, the Turkish Leopard 2A4 is the mark that Germany used in the late 80’s. It is NOTHING like the current A7 and newer marks. The Turks did fuck all to upgrade them. Just like they did fuck all to upgrade many of the M-60A3’s they also sent into Syria. The A4 variant is basically 30 year old technology. How can you judge the performance of the current upgraded and uparmored Leopard 2’s based on outdated models with no visible upgrades whatsoever for over 30 years? You throw a top of the line T-72 of 30 years ago into the firing line today and it would get chewed to pieces just as easily as the Turkish Leopards did. Not to mention that then top of the line Russian T-80 tanks already got chewed to pieces in the first Chechnya war 20 years ago.

What the Turks did, and seem to continue to do, send out old outdated tanks into territory that is saturated with ATGW’s is criminally negligent towards the poor Turkish conscripts that are manning them. Even the SAA has learned to outfit its tanks with additional spaced armor.

John Whitehot

“the Turkish Leopard 2A4 is the mark that Germany used in the late 80’s”

Mid 90ies. 2A5 upgrade started 1995/96.

“Not to mention that then top of the line Russian T-80 tanks already got chewed to pieces in the first Chechnya war 20 years ago”

Most T-80 deployed to Chechnya were of the older B and BV variants and those destroyed were employed without ERA in most cases. And please, refrain from violent expressions like chewed to pieces.

The basic point again, is this:

The general perception of what a weapon system (in this case modern MBT) is able to achieve is very far from reality.

There is people writing millions of words and wasting years of their lives discussing about how a certain APDS round is able to penetrate 700mm of composite armor at a certain distance.

These subjects are so particular to become irrelevant ; the quantity of factors in combat conditions is impossible to even start being defined.

The fundamental error is thinking that wars are the result of the sum of single engagements, which are the result of single shells penetrating and so on.

It’s a fucked up mindset – wars are won if the are fought starting from the most general level, and lost the other way around.

To conclude: the most modern tank will be destroyed and its crew killed in combat if tactically it’s not employed correctly. A combined arms force that is motivated and trained will win any engagement against Syrian War opponents types even using old T-55 and T-62 tanks.

no way. such ugly plane russians would never plan :)))

Jesus • 9 hours ago That is an ugly aerodynamic plane,

Garga

Why do you reply this to me? I knew retirement has a sever impact on some people, but are you that bored?

Solomon Krupacek

because you both are allied

Garga

:)) Aren’t you sweet?

Solomon Krupacek

My wife tell me this repeatedly :))

Garga

Oh, hold on! I didn’t mean that kind of sweet. Don’t look at me with them puppy eyes, Ay ain’t gonna kiss ye!

Jesus

That is an ugly aerodynamic plane, not able to take evasive actions or turn very well. Besides its “supposed” BVR capability the plane is a dog, if it carries munitions on its underwing pylons it looses its stealth capability and it is not any different than a generation 4 aircraft with below average capabilities. The S200 with its 250 kgs warhead got close to the F35 and sprayed its pellets effectively, taking it out of action. The S200 has been undergoing modernization, it’s large warhead makes it a potent weapon that makes the Israelis nervous.

Solomon Krupacek

nice jesus, not the design is important, but the functionality. and this is top.

i was curious, whit what argue will you come. so, again did not surprized me with your simplicity :))

you, haters should be happy. IL will be undefeatable :DDDDD

Jesus

Yes functionality, all your functionality becomes moot when you turn the switch off, and everything goes dead.
