The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that a soldier was moderately wounded and another was lightly hurt in a Hezbollah drone attack that targeted a position in occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms on November 2.
Both soldiers were taken to hospital for further treatment, according to the IDF, which said it struck and killed Hezbollah operatives at a site belonging to the group in response.
Hezbollah’s Military Media released video footage of the drone attack, which was the first of its kind since clashes on the Lebanon front broke out after the October 7 Palestinian surprise attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip.
The group also acknowledged that five of its fighters were killed, without providing any details on when or how they lost their lives.
It’s worth noting that the drone attack was a part of a larger Hezbollah operation that targeted 19 IDF positions along the border with Lebanon at the exact same time. Anti-tank guided missiles, artillery and other heavy weapons were used in the operation.
So far, the clashes on the Lebanon front have claimed the lives of eight Israelis -six soldiers and two civilians- 51 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, seven Palestinian fighters -three from the Hamas Movement and four from the Islamic Jihad- and seven Lebanese civilians -two shepherds, a teenager, two elderly men and two journalists-.
Serious escalation is expected on the Lebanon front on November 3 as Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, is set to give what was described as a very important speech. Some Observers speculate that he will announce an escalation in attacks against Israel in support of Gaza during the speech, or even declare an all out war.
