On April 11, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had carried out more strikes against southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hezbollah.
In a statement, the IDF said that its fighter jets carried out an airstrike on a building used by Hezbollah in the town of Dhayra, where a fighter was spotted.
Israeli main battle tanks also shelled an area near Tayr Harfa to “remove a threat,” the IDF added, without providing any details.
Lebanese media didn’t report any civilian casualties and Hezbollah didn’t announce any losses as a result of recent Israeli strikes.
Following the strikes, four projectiles were reportedly fired from southern Lebanon at the IDF’s al-Ramtha site in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms. The Hebrew media didn’t report any losses. Hezbollah didn’t claim responsibility for the attack.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the besieged Palestinian enclave.
In recent days, the clashes slowed down despite rising tensions between Israel and Iran, a key backer of Hezbollah, over the April 1 Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which claimed the lives of a senior commander from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. On April 10, Hezbollah announced only two attacks against the IDF.
It’s worth noting that the border clashes have so far resulted in eight civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 256 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
