The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), an umbrella group of Iran-backed armed factions, carried out on November 13 and 14 nine more attacks against Israel in support of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

In separate statements before and after midnight, the group said it launched suicide drones at seven “vital targets” in northern Israel, one in the center of the country and another in the southern city of Eilat.

The attacks were carried out “in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity [Israel] against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly” in Gaza and Lebanon, the group said, vowing that “operations against enemy strongholds will continue at an increasing pace.”

Three videos released by the group showed what appears to be Iranian-made Shahed-101 suicide drones being launched from Iraq.

Overnight, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that a drone launched toward Israel from Iraq was shot down by an Israeli Navy missile boat. Warning sirens sounded in Eilat amid the incident. However, there are no reports of casualties or damage.

Two more drones launched “from the east,” a term the IDF uses for Iraq, were later intercepted over Syrian airspace as they headed toward Israel, according to the military. Again, no losses were reported.

The IRI began carrying out attacks against Israel as well as against United States forces in Iraq and neighboring Syria last October in response to the Israeli all-out war on Gaza. The group escalated its attacks against Israel in September in response to Israel’s ongoing aerial campaign and ground operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel has not yet responded to the IRI’s attacks. However, recent reports in Arab and Hebrew media suggest that the IDF may be planning an attack on Iraq.
