The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged on October 19 that two soldiers were killed while fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.
The two slain soldiers were both serving in the ranks of the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, which operates Merkava MK 4M main battle tanks.
The al-Quds Brigade, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released on the same day a video showing its fighters targeting two Merkava MK 4M tanks in the area of al-Qasasib in the center of the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, where the IDF has been operating for the last two weeks. The Israeli soldiers were likely killed in this attack.
Two other videos released recently by the group showed mortar attacks on IDF gatherings in Jabaliya as well as rocket launches at the settlements of Sderot and Nir Am near Gaza.
The military wing of the Hamas Movement, the al-Qassam Brigades, also released videos showing an attack on a building occupied by Israeli troops in Jabaliya as well as two ambushes that targeted units of the IDF in the refugee camp and close to the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
The latest deaths brought Israel’s toll in the ground operations against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in Gaza and along its border to 357. More than 2,280 others have been reportedly wounded. In addition, over 500 vehicles were hit in the Strip, according to Hebrew media.
Meanwhile on the Palestinian side, the death toll from the Israeli war has exceeded 42,500, with women and children making up most of the casualties.

jihadist propaganda. hamas is capable to produce clone of rpg-2, a weapon which was sufficient to knock out t74 and his equivalents 50 years ago with a good portion of luck. fighting against merkavas, especially from the front angles and in distance <100meters with rpg-2 is impossible.with all of the tank sensors it is highly unlikely to get so close and hit a weak spot on merkava. this kind of propaganda is rubbish. you need at least 9m133 kornet and a good ambush from the back of the tank.
we only get propaganda and never the truth. your opinion about the mercava tank is wrong. it has no “sensors”, it only has thermal cameras. these tanks may not have been manned and therefore an easy target. even the oldest rpg can penetrate the sides of a mercava and any other tank in the world. you don’t seem to know anything about tanks, it seems.
of course we are getting only propagande. this video seems to be fake, or maybe even israeli one, showing how you don”t want to fight a mbt. running in front of it, hiding behind thin walls, firing at close distance with near to zero aiming and targeting the front section of the tank. the most likely result of such attack is a miss, deflected hit or zero damage hit and in less then 3 seconds the merkava will respond with a canon round, killing anything in the area from which rpg was fired.

you dont retrieve fully destroyed vehicles. just look at the battlefields of ukraine. you only retrieve vehicles that can be respired. therefore, a better question would be , why are the israelis able to retrieve almost all the tanks ?

i hear the merkava tank burns well like other nato junk. the trophy system is employs is overrated and its rate of success is not what is advertised. kornets are kown to kill them well. hamas home made rpgs have a lower hit rate than kornets but they can still put them out of action. and then there are ied’s which usually disable tanks
