A drone launched from Lebanon was shot down on July 27 morning by an Israeli Navy missile boat, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced.
The drone was intercepted over Israel’s territorial waters, the IDF said in a statement, noting that it is still unclear what the drone was attempting to target. No warning sirens were sounded amid the incident as no settlement was threatened by the drone.
The IDF has been engaged in clashes with Hezbollah along the Lebanese border since the outbreak of the war in the Palestinian Gaza Strip last October. Israel claims that the group attempted to attack offshore infrastructure at the Karish gas field in the past.
Hezbollah has launched hundreds of drones at Israel amid the ongoing border clashes, most of them packed with explosives but some also for surveillance purposes.
A day earlier, Hezbollah launched nine attacks against Israel, firing at fighter jets over Lebanon and shelled a number of military sites and settlements. The IDF responded by launching a series of strikes against southern Lebanon. Two Hezbollah fighters were killed.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated in the last few months, causing more casualties and damage on both sides.
So far, the clashes have resulted in 12 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 500 people have been killed, including 361 fighters of Hezbollah and over 100 civilians.

hezbollah could be flying explosive laden drones, like ukraine, at forward posts disrupting control centers every day. strange that they aren’t. those drones are too small for radar. why shell when you can hit hq with precision?
exactly ! with very small effort hezbollah could disrupt israeli economy really hard, but for some “strange” reason they dont do it. targeting the israeli gas shore resp. naval gas fields is one first step in the right direction. but still i hope for hezbollah to start striking all the ship traffic going to israel from the mediterrainian side, and hence blocking it. same as houthis do it from the south-eastern side (redsea) already.
