The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on November 16 that it had carried out two waves of strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
In the early morning, the IDF said that it had struck a weapons depot, observation posts, military infrastructure and launch positions, including one from which a guided anti-tank missile was fired at the area around the northern Israeli settlement of Shlomi a day earlier.
Additional targets of Hezbollah, including positions where the group’s fighters were operating, were targeted, the IDF said in the afternoon.
Hezbollah targeted four Israeli military sites, a vehicle and a gathering of troops on November 15. The group said that the seven attacks were carried out “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance.”
Israel didn’t report any casualties as a result of Hezbollah’s attacks and the retaliatory strikes on southern Lebanon caused material losses only, according to Lebanese media.
Hezbollah and its allies, including the Hamas Movement and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, began launching attacks against the IDF after the start of the war in Gaza last month. The continuous clashes on the Lebanese front could quickly escalate into a full-blown war.
So far, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of seven IDF troops, three Israeli civilians, 72 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, one fighter from the Lebanese Resistance Regiments, three fighters from Hamas, four fighters from the Islamic Jihad and sixteen Lebanese civilians.
