On December 20, the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) revealed that it arrested a cell of the Palestinian Hamas Movement in Tall west of Nablus last October. According to the Shin Bet, the cell planned to kidnap Israeli MP Yehuda Glick and Israeli Army Arabic-language spokesman Major Avichay Adraee.

Glick is well-known for his extreme statements and his stands against the Palestinians, while Major Adraee is hated by most Arabs for his statements on his Facebook page.
The cell was led by 26 years old Muad Ashtiyah who was in a direct contact with Omar Assida, a Hamas Movement commander responsible of coordinating Hamas members between the Gaza Strip and the Western Bank, according to the Shin Bet.
Ashtiyah, recruited Mahmoud Ramadan and Ahmed Ramadan, both 19 years old to help him in his plan. The Shin Beit said that the cell first gathered information about Glick and Maj. Adraee using the Internet. However, the cell changed its plans after facing major difficulties, and decided to kidnap an Israeli settler or soldier instead.

Later, the cell started observing major junctions, main roads and bus stops as part of its new plans. The Shin Bet said that the cell wanted to use the hostage to bargain for the release of Palestinian prisoners.
A handgun, an electric shocker, a pepper spray and other weapons were sized by the Shin Bet when the cell was arrested. Indictments were filed against the cell members in the Israeli Military Court on December 20.
This case shows that the Palestinian armed groups are more than willing to target Israel deep inside in order to solve the problem of the Palestinian prisoners, that’s still a major issue between the two sides.
