Israeli Defense Minister Warns Hezbollah That ‘Lebanon Will Be The Price’ If Maritime Talks Fail

On September 15, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned that Lebanon would suffer serious consequences if Hezbollah attempts to sabotage the US-mediated talks on the Israeli-Lebanese maritime border.

The maritime dispute between Israel and Lebanese returned to the spot light last June when the Greek-owned Energean Power FPSO [Floating Production Storage Offloading] reached the Karish naval field to extract gas for Israel. Lebanon claims that at least a part of the gas field is within its exclusive economic zone.

Israel will reportedly begin extracting gas from Karish towards the end of September. Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has already warned Tel Aviv against starting production before an agreement is reached.

Speaking at a conference at Herzliya’s Reichman University, Gantz said that if Hezbollah wants to disrupt the ongoing talks, “he’s welcome to do so, but the price will be Lebanon.”

“Israel is ready to reach a deal that will assist both countries economically and energy-wise. I believe there will be two gas rigs in the sea, one on the Israeli side and one on the Lebanese side,” Gantz said, adding that Israel will protect its own gas rig regardless of the outcome of the ongoing talks.

On September 9, the US mediator in the Israeli-Lebanese maritime border dispute, Amos Hochstein, announced that the talks to resolve the serious conflict have made “very good progress.”

Two days later, on September 11, an Israeli official confirmed some progress in the indirect talks between Lebanon and Israel, but said more work was needed for a final agreement.

All sides appears to be optimistic that an agreement on the demarcation of the Israeli-Lebanese maritime border can be reached before the start of gas production at the dispute Karish field. Still, Hezbollah will not likely hesitate to take military action if Tel Aviv attempted to prolong the talks in a way or another.

In simple words, don’t you dare defending their rights!

When there’s a negotiation ongoing with participation of the US and an American official says something like “the negotiations show very good progress”, it should send a chill down your spine, because what it really means is the other party is giving in much more than we expected. Like when they say “the X’s stance is not constructive” it means X is standing their ground and won’t fold against coercion.

What to expect from the Lebanese government? Let me put it this way: They declared not one, not 2, but FOUR days of mourning for Queen Elizabeth, and they weren’t even a British colony!! I’d understood when Jordan said the same thing, because their king is a loyal British subject, but come on Lebanon! Apparently a lot of Lebanese ordinary people were also as surprised as I was.

It’s not new for the Empire to put the whole population of a country at gun point and say: Do this or else. The cute thing is, this time Izzies gave it a try. If you are proficient at stealing land, homes, water, trees and human organs, you probably are also good at stealing oil and gas. At least as long as Hezbollah is not watching it, hence the threat.

Israeli and US negotiations are akin to accepting a deal between a Leach and a snake :)

Garga

That!

And poor Lebanon government, asking Americans to help them against Izzies. A Persian proverb says (rough translation, in Persian it’s like a poem): For fear of venomous Cobra, he took refuge to the stinging scorpion.

Dear Garga, the result will be the same. We will take what is ours and flatten Lebanon should they dare support Hezbollah bluffs. Reality is we destroy terror. If Lebanon wants to stay alive, they better shut up and except the deal. Last warning.

Bigg Chungus

So you are saying that you will “take what is [yours]” and that “if Lebanon wants to stay alive, they better shut up and except [sic] the deal.” That you will “flatten” them otherwise.

I don’t think you speak like a country that “destroys terror”, brother. You sound like the source of it!

Talk about creating a Strawman. Hezbollah is not obstructing negotiations, Hezbollah is the only reason Israel is bothering to negotiate. Were it not for Hezbollah, Israel would take everything.

We take what is rightfully ours. Lebanon is a thief and thief get their hand cut off. Famous Israeli proverb. If they want to live they want to negotiate and agree. Or else we blow them.

Bigg Chungus

By the definition of Jewish extremists, half of the Middle East is “rightfully ours”. Jewish extremism poses just as much of a threat to world peace as any crazy nut butter coming out of Saudi!

Truth Hurts

Zionist extremism. There are many jews opposed to Israeli barbaric apartheid and terrorism. The real Semitic jews. Also the biggest threat to world peace is Zionism, for it infects Americunts and most world governments, even Putin who allows them to bomb Syria will nilly, kill Russian soldiers there and in Ukraine, and who recently even apologised to Israel for Lavrov speaking the truth about Hitler being partly Jewish.

Truth Hurts

You are 100% pure unadulterated scum. One of your vermin dead is worth the freedom of a million Palestinians.
