A drone of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) crashed in Syria’s southern region, Syrian and Israeli news sources reported on April 26.

The sources didn’t identify the type of the drone or locate the site of the crash. The IDF, which usually acknowledged such material losses, has not made any comment on the claims, yet.

The alleged incident came just two days after Israeli strikes that targeted a post of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the Qurs al-Nafel hill in the countryside of al-Qunitra. The strategic hill overlooks most of the Golan Heights front. Video footage that surfaced online showed missiles, most likely Spike NLOS, hitting the post. No casualties were reported.

The IDF dropped leaflets over al-Qunitra after the strikes, warning the SAA against cooperating with Lebanon Hezbollah. The leaflets included surveillance photos showing a senior intelligence officer of the army, Brigade General Samer al-Dana, with Tariq Maher, the alleged intelligence chief of Hezbollah in Syria.

On April 19, similar Israeli strikes hit two posts of the SAA, near the town of Saidi al-Hanout and al-Ahmar hill in al-Quneitra countryside. Back then, the IDF also dropped leaflets with a warning to both the SAA and Hezbollah. Later, it announced losing a tactical surveillance drone, an Elbit Systems Skylark, over the region.

The IDF carried out several direct fire attacks and ground intrusion into al-Quneitra in the past to limit the movements of the SAA and alleged members of Hezbollah.

The new Israeli escalation on the Golan Heights front began after a limited multi-front confrontation that saw the launch of two salvos of rockets from southern Syria at the occupied territory. Tel Aviv held Damascus responsible for the rare attack.

Just thinking. When will Israel pay the piper for its indiscriminate shelling of neighbor states and the genocide of the Palestinians? “your day will come.
