On August 16th, Israeli forces carried out a raid in the occupied West Bank, killing 4 Palestinians.
Israeli police claimed that there was a fire exchange with Palestinian gunmen.
They were carrying out an operation to reportedly arrest an alleged Hamas supporter in a camp in the city.
The incident occurred in the city of Jenin, where, Israeli police said in a statement, special forces disguised as Palestinians came under heavy fire from “a large number” of attackers.
“The undercover forces returned fire toward the terrorists and neutralized them,” the police said.
On Voice of Palestine radio, Akram Rajoub, Jenin’s governor said at least four Palestinians were killed.
The governor noted that the bodies of two of the victims were being held by Israeli authorities.
According to Palestinians media reports, heavy clashes erupted between resistance fighters and the Israeli forces during which loud explosions and gun-firing were heard.
On Israel’s side there were no casualties.
Eyewitnesses said that an Israeli army force stormed Jenin at predawn and clashed with Palestinian militants, adding that they heard intensive gunfire and explosions.
Israel Radio reported that the Israeli army has been preparing for a military operation in Jenin following previous clashes between the Israeli army and Palestinian gunmen in the city.
Just days earlier, Dia al-Sabarini, 25 died of his injuries.
He was seriously wounded in the northern city of Jenin on August 3.
Sabarini was identified on social media as a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing the Fatah movement. Photos of him shared online showed him brandishing an automatic rifle.

The group did not make a public statement on Sabarini’s death, but some banners announcing his death carried the group’s logo.
Hundreds of mourners attended his funeral, carrying his body through central Nablus.
Five other Palestinians were wounded in the same clashes after troops and Border Police officers entered Jenin in an arrest raid, according to Palestinian medics.
Israeli police said at the time that members of its counterterrorism unit, known by its Hebrew acronym Yamam, “neutralized a number of terrorists” who had opened fire at troops.
Forces came under “massive fire” during the operations, police said.
The attackers also hurled explosive devices, Molotov cocktails and rocks at the troops, police said.
The statement did not provide any further details about the arrest operation, the nature of the activities, what the suspects were wanted for, or whether any of those shot had been targeted for arrest.
Overnight Israeli arrest raids in West Bank towns are frequently met with fierce resistance from local Palestinians, though the use of live gunfire against troops is rare.
The use of life gunfire against Palestinians is quite common, however.
