Israel’s December 25 airstrikes targeted Iranian storage facilities and an anti-aircraft battery of the Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAADF) around the Syrian capital of Damascus, an Israeli military official told the Haaretz newspaper on December 27.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also claimed that Israel had warned Russia about the airstrikes ahead of time, without providing any further information.
Syrian pro-government activists confirmed that an air-defense system of the SyAADF was hit during the airstrikes. However, they said that the storage facilities were of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division. New satellite images released by Israel’s ImageSat confirmed that the facilities were located inside the base of the same division.
A day earlier, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Russia said that the Israeli airstrikes on Damascus endangered two civilian airplanes, which forced the SyAADF to delayed the deployment of surface-to-air missiles and electronic jamming “to prevent a tragedy.”
The scale of the Israeli airstrikes reflects the tough attitude of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who vowed to take action against Iranian forces in Syria on numerous occasions during the last few months.
Very strange Israel informed Russia before attack
Not strange at all. Israel and Russia have a sort of protocol of engagement they adhere to, or loosely adhere to as far as the Israelis are concerned. So as to not get into unwanted situations that can cause undue escalation.
I would welcome a Russian and Isreali conflict though. It would push the Israelis back and give Syrian, Hezbollah and Iranian forces breathing room since the Russians would engage Israel in or near Israel with EW and AA batteries that are OPERATIONAL with modern jets and missiles. Israel wouldn’t have the edge anymore and would have to fight on a level playing field. US could get involved but it would be a political nightmare since Trump wants to withdraw from Syria. Note though, I’m not saying the Russians will outright win but it will remind Israel that it is isn’t some invulnerable nation, immune to the same sort of bombings and strikes they like to carry out.
The agreement is faulty as all hell though. It essentially normalizes Israeli sair raids and bombings on various Syrian, Iranian and Hezbollah targets.
When the time is right the head of the Israeli snake will be removed and until then it is wiser to alow the snake a few bites until it is in an irrevocable position.

We will have to wait and see in all truthfulness. As much as I’d like to see Israel be taken to task over its crimes against humanity, they still hold power ovet the US regardless of administration or political party, so we are essentially dealing with a “state” that can call upon a the US whenever it wishes to aid in its actions.
It is wise to keep all of Israel’s air strikes and blatant disregard of law and rules of engagement in our memories. In the future if Israel needs help, it will find it has little to no friends…

I would support a war with Israel full on at this point, even with US backing, seeing Israeli buildings, military facilities and infrastructure blown to bits would at least remind them of their vulnerability. Hurting Israel back out of pure spite for all the shit they’ve thrown at Syria is well deserved. As childish as it sounds, Syria is within its rights to retaliate but can’t due “reasons”. But it won’t happen, at least not with Syria. Hezbollah is much more able to hurt Israel due to their guerrilla nature. Luring Israel into Southern Lebanon and trapping Israeli troops in a quagmire would drain Israel of pride and resources all the while thousands of missiles rain down on various Israeli targets. But also, it isn’t right to plunge Lebanon into another war with Israel, a war that will come to Lebanon whether we want it or not. All of this is well within the realm of possibility.
What are your guy’s thoughts on this? Should Iran, Syria and Hezbollah begin to posture more aggressively and prepare for a wider conflict with Israel or should they just continue to mop up the foreign terrorists and reclaim back Syrian territory?

I don’t see your point. In all fairness, Israel was an acceptional fighting force backing in the 60s, 70s and 80s but their power came from forcing the US to supply to it with arms and logistics through the downright evil and sinister Samson Option.
IDF of today is not the same as yesteryear. They are young and entitled men and women serving in a corrupt, largely racist military that serves an expansionist state. Israel’s enemies fight with zeal and pride. But there are many Israelis who genuinely believe they are the victims and are protecting themselves. It really depends on whose side your on.
In terms of real world capabilities. Israel sports some of the best weapons that the US can provide. F35s, F16s, F15s, submarines equipped with supposed nuclear cruiser missiles, modern radars, and AA batteries along with good operating tactics and logistics to support their endeavors, good tanks that are tailored for the terrain they operate in. But all this comes at the cost of being very expensive to operate and this is why Israel quite literally sucks the American taxpayers dry and bends the arm of US politicians (many of whom are Jewish and or sympathetic to Israel anyways) into giving free weapons and technology to Israel.
Israel can be defeated in war but it would take a willing and courageous group of men to pull it off. Israel’s nukes need to be pacified somehow though, which currently their doesn’t seem to be any real way. It would be nice if another Middle Eastern state held a nuclear stockpile and could negotiate with Israel on equal grounds. But, as it stands the Israel’s have the last word due to their nuclear weapons stockpile.

Hmm… as much as I would like to believe that is the case. Diversification of nuclear weapons and their launching platforms is easy now a days. Israel likely has more than one method of delivery and all their nukes aren’t in one place. I doubt it, like highly doubt it. If the Syrians can properly utilize their AD equipment and form a good offensive strategy then Israel will be under quite unique pressure.
This isn’t a symmetrical war, it would be a war that Israel would have to fight on multiple different fronts against different threats all together. The S-300s are being tested in combat for the task that they were designed for, and they’re failing the test. So all of the people who have them, and are considering buying them are wondering what’s wrong with them? You obtain a system on the premise that they’ll be operational in 3 months. And now there are reports that they’ve already been operational for 2 months. And the only thing that they’ve done is allow people to be injured and buildings to be destroyed. Which is the exact opposite of what they’re designed for. That’s a problem for Russia, Syria, everyone that has these systems, and people looking to Russia for security.
And whose right in the middle of this debacle? Jews. They’ve been a curse on Russia for hundreds of years. And they’re thumbing their noses at Russia and making the Russians look like fools. Russia has just completed a quantum leap in improving Syria’s air defense capabilities to get this problem corrected. And nothing has changed. The Jews are doing the exact same thing that they were before the upgrade. And it’s been completely ineffective in getting the problem corrected.
Russia’s reputation is being severely damaged by Israel. And the problem is correctable by proving the S-300s effectiveness in combat. Which will have the exact opposite effect by strengthening Russia’s reputation and deterrence capability considerably.
Do we even know if the S300s were used in this attack? even if they were there are reports that the majority of missiles were intercepted. You can not assume an air defence is a failure just because some missiles got through. No system will ever provide 100% success not even the S400 & I seriously doubt Russia is selling them claiming this to be the case

IAF aircraft need to be taken down. After all of their unprovoked attacks, they certainly have it coming to them.
Here in lies the issue. How does one shoot down Israeli aircraft when they are using Lebanese and Israeli airspace to launch stand off attacks. Syria needs diplomatic support and I mean HEAVY diplomatic support from China and Russia to push back against the US if Syrian forces decide go change their rules of engagement regarding Israeli attack jets. This is due to the reality that, once the decision is made by the SyADF to shoot down Israeli aircraft from within Israel or Lebanon, the US will make so much noise it will be a racket. I think Russias diplomatic help has been good up until this point. But it is MORE than clear the Russians either don’t want a wider conflict and are stomaching Israel’s raids or something else, idk. They’ve been a decent ally but for Iran they’ve been a shit ally, if even that.
Thus far I’ve given the Russians and Syrians the benefit of the doubt that the S-300 simply isn’t at full capacity yet. Once it’s all set up and running Israel will find it extremely difficult to launch anything at all when their aircraft are being monitored the from within Israeli airspace. Both the times the Israelis struck Syria, there has been an Iranian cargo plane departing from Syria back to Iran at the very same time, not as it arrived, just as it was leaving. I know it the same way I knew the US were about to abandon the Kurds, and the same way I knew the US were about to leave Syria, and the same way I knew the Kurds were being replaced by Trump, and the same way I knew the Arab league convinced the US and Israel to give Assad the green light to attack Daraa and Quneitra, and the same way I knew the Arab league effectively ended this war back before January this year, when they ended support for all the rebel factions and tried to convince the Saudis and Turks to do the same. I have posts on the SF archives to prove I’ve correctly predicted all these events long before they happened, and contrary to what almost everyone else believed, experts included. I stand by all my assessments, analysis of events and predictions, they’re all archived on SF for anyone to check, I suggest you do if you think I have nothing relevant to say, go back to my predictions just before the Daraa and Quneitra campaign [may/june] and see what I’ve been saying since then, all my predictions about Daraa and Quneitra were much more accurate than any of the so called military experts or media commentators, I think I was 99% correct on the timeframe, troop numbers, the ease of operations, the casualty numbers, the refugee numbers, and anything else you care to mention, I’ll brag again and say I got everything right, no one else even came close to the accuracy of my predictions, please don’t reply and say I’m lying, just check a few of my posts first, then you can call me a liar if you still want to. So yes, I do know an Iranian cargo plane was leaving both times, and it’s because I don’t just read SF, I read everything I can, even the enemies news. PT Barnum was just a gay man with another gay mans quote, it’s accurate but so what, I prefer this one, “you only have to spook one of the herd members to spook the whole herd”, I’ve never been a member of any herd, have you? Ever notice how sheep when they’re all fleeing in one direction, all start jumping over a stick or obstacle, even after the stick or obstacle has been knocked away, but they still keep jumping over nothing anyway, silly sheep, some people are like that too, poor people. If I told you most Israeli news sources are much more accurate, have less mistakes, and also have less propaganda in them than SF has, you’d laugh at me wouldn’t you, but I suggest you also occasionally read some of them too.

IAF are now reduced to petulant tactical ploys – hiding attacking warplanes behind incoming commercial airliners.
The Israeli leadership apparently think this is cunning tactical maneuvering – with intent to boost own prestige with domestic Israeli audience by maintaining attacks. Yet they fail to grasp that strategically it actually makes them look weak – if not cowardly – and worse, merely irritates the bigger player in region – Russia – who likely to simply respond with more upgrading and networking of surface to air defensive equipment within Syria.
Until the Lebanese shoot those israeli planes down this isn’t going to stop. As far as warning Russia prior to the strike that should be confirmed by the Russians and not the israelis who are reknown for fabricating.
Lebanon needs to shed its Saudi Israel shackles and take a stand. A simple you cannot use our airspace, and give Syria permission to shoot all Israeli aircraft is all that would be needed.
Lebanon, Russia and Syria should strike an agreement to allow Russian antimissile systems to be based in Lebanon, and for Syria to have the right to fire at Israeli jets in Lebanese airspace. Israeli infrastructure whether it is in the Golan Heights, Israel’s EEZ (the Tamar and Leviathan offshore wells), or Israel proper, should also be fair game as part of any retaliatory action. An eye for an eye and preemptive action would be a better defensive measure than taking it again and again on the chin, at until after Syria’s territorial integrity is assured and the terrorists (including the Western coalition) are out of Syria,
Since there is absolutely no down side the Israelis will continue to attack Syria whenever, and where ever they choose. I fail to understand why Russia armed Syria with a modern air defense system when it’s painfully obvious that Russia will never allow Syria to defend itself.
