A wave of Israeli strikes hit the Houthi-held port of al-Hodeida in western Yemen on September 16 afternoon, with Defense Minister Israel Katz vowing to blockade the areas controlled by the group.
Around an hour and a half before the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a warning stating that it would soon strike al-Hodeida.
“For your safety, we call on all those present in the port of al-Hodeidah and the ships docked there to evacuate the area immediately,” the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, Col. Avichay Adraee, said in a post on X, warning that “anyone who remains in the area is putting their life in danger.”
The strikes were initially reported by Yemen’s Al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthis, with the group’s military spokesman Brig. Gen Yahya Saree announcing that Yemeni air defenses were “confronting Israeli enemy aircraft launching an aggression against our country.”
“The air defenses caused great confusion for the enemy aircraft and forced some of their combat formations to leave the airspace before carrying out their aggression. Their incursion into the depths was thwarted, thanks be to God,” the spokesman said.
Later, Katz said that the strikes on al-Hodeida were aimed at continuing “the naval and aerial blockade on the Houthi terror organization.”
“The Houthi terror organization will continue to take blows and will pay painful prices for any attempt to attack the State of Israel,” he added.
The Houthi responded quickly, launching a ballistic missile at Israel just under three hours after the strikes on al-Hodeida. Sirens had sounded in central Israel, the Jerusalem area, and in several West Bank settlements amid the attack. Later, the IDF said that the missile was intercepted by air defenses.
Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas, a close ally of the Houthis, in the Gaza Strip, the group has launched 84 ballistic missiles and at least 37 drones at Israel from Yemen.
Recent weeks saw a notable increase in Houthi drone attacks, with many penetrating Israeli airspace and at least one hitting the terminal of Ramon International Airport on September 7. One man was lightly wounded as a result of the attack.
The IDF also stepped up the intensity of its attacks on the Houthis, carrying out its deadliest attack on Yemen on September 10, with more than a hundred people killed or wounded. At least 32 of those killed in the strikes at the time were journalists.
With the IDF kicking off a major offensive against Hamas in Gaza in the morning, more escalation is to be expected in Yemen. There is nothing that Israel can currently do, militarily speaking, that would deter the Houthis.

disgusting arab pinworms finished their meaningless meeting in doha and as usual the muslim cowards were all talk and no walk.
the israelis are incapable of a strategic victory in any of the battles they have started. they then attack soft targets using western supplied weaponry and munitions to give the chimera of success without ever achieving any decisive victory. the israelis are going the same way as the germans who seemed invincible in 1941 but disaster was just over the horizon.
they are just bad at war. but they are being good with other things like planting bombs in pagers … they shoulkd stick to devious planning. just saying
they are quite good at dropping 1000 lb bombs on women and children sleeping in tents in hospital forecourt while their own populace cower in underground bunkers hiding from 20 kg drones.
destroy the sand apes!!!
heheheh
israel is doing a fine job of destroying itself …
but bibi is not going to jail, which was the goal all along.
remember when retarded bozo the clown prophesized a nuclear strike on moscow in the summer of 2025 ?
massive massive world class imbecile right here.
don’t send him to jail, send him to me, i know how to deal with deviant people like him in very creative ways.😉
bibis mission is to destroy israel: he has been tasked to do that by the secret societies. he will leave no israeli left alive to fulfill that goal for the trillionaire families. he must create a war between the three abrahamic faiths to bring about their destruction and then replace it with a new luciferian religion of evil to enslave all humanity. he will destroy israel to rule over the ashes if his own people do not stop him. there is no prosperity in the grave.
generational indoctrination and daily propaganda reinforcement makes them the prefect human tools. if israel cared at all for its population. its hostages would have been home 2 years ago.
article states ” hamas, a close ally of the houthis” without any proof whatsoever ! hamas is an israeli creation. this language is propaganda
well spotted. i agree,
hamas came to reasoning.
yemenis on a daily basis destruct that world’s disease, bit by bit.
