On September 15, warplanes of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out an airstrike on the Damascus international airport, south of the Syrian capital, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). The state-run news agency said that the Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAADF) intercepted several Israeli missiles over Damascus.
Local sources and eyewitnesses said that one of the aerial objects, which were hit by the SyAADF was brighter and larger than usual. This allowed some experts to speculate that the object was a large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or even an aircraft of the IAF.

Few minutes after the first airstrike, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on a base of the SyAAF around Damascus. Syrian pro-government activists said that an S-200 long-range surface-to-air missile system was damaged as a result of the airstrikes.
Local observers pointed out that Israel only attack the SyAADF when one of its aerial assets is damaged or even shoot down. However, these speculations are yet to be confirmed.

At one time, Iran had a direct route via Iraq, into Syria and then onto The Lebanon; now the US have blocked the East route (with the Kurds- SDF and obviously Turkey have blocked the Northern routes.

It’s a very challenging situation. A week or so towards the end of August The SAA only just have dropped leaflets to advise civilians of safe corridors, when soon after intelligence unveiled the Idlibistanis had canisters of chlorine and started their movie project, which would have given them a second White Helmets Oscar nomination in Bullywood. At this point the US already had re-inforced their missile launching platforms around the Eastern Mediterranean and Persian Gulf, as well as installed air defense within their SDF bases. Launching the SAA advance at that point would have instantly caused a US/coalition response as in April, but x5 if not greater. They’d have found “official” reason to destroy the SAAD, something Israel has been hoping for ever since. The Russians would have two choices, attack US/coalition forces or watch. Either way, very bad. So the SAA moved from “full blown advance” to subversive units who’d gather intelligence and precision strikes of dug in terrorist hideouts. You also have to understand that most likely 80% of civilians in Idlibistan are brainwashed. You should see some of their propaganda … pictures of dried out corpses that apparently were prisoners of the “democratic opposition”, killed and tortured in the most inhumane ways by the “Assad Regime”. Pictures of children starved to death; Mutilated babies. These people are so convinced that if the SAA enters Idlib, it will be their certain death. Those few civilians who see through this propaganda and try to escape are quickly filtered out and are waiting in prison cells to become human shields. Hence, as soon as the SAA moves in, ALL HELL would brake loose. I think the SAA, Hesbollah and Russian Forces are doing exactly what’s best for Syria and the Syrian people. They keep Idlib surrounded and they work with intelligence and precision targeting. This might well take a long time, but certainly is a much safer strategy. I hope their subversive units are able to eliminate key terrorists and foreign advisers. Meanwhile they are also busy clearing up the ISIS thugs who keep popping up from Al Tanaf and the East side of Deir Ezzor

The longer the situation in Syria remains in flux with the economy suspended, the tougher it will be to rebuild or even take control of the nation’s resources – plenty of which are outside Assad’s grip.
