Italian defense giant Leonardo has set up a subsidiary in Ukraine focused primarily on research and development, expanding its cooperation with the country.
The Kyiv-based company, Leonardo Ukraine, has been listed in Ukraine’s business register since May 20, though it was first disclosed publicly in Leonardo’s half-year financial report, released at the end of July.
The company has share capital of 5.13 million Ukrainian hryvnias — about €100,000 — and is wholly owned through Leonardo International.
The new company, first reported by Italian media on August 19, marks the latest step in Leonardo’s broader push into Ukraine.
“We have now completed the legal process to be operational. The new company will be used to operate in the area,” a Leonardo communications official told Euractiv.
Leonardo Ukraine will focus on research and development in communications and navigation systems, software, IT services, and electronic and optical technologies.
Leonardo’s ex-CEO, Roberto Cingolani, announced last March that the company also planned to test its Michelangelo Dome in Ukraine. The system is an AI-powered digital architecture that links land, sea, air and space sensors into a single network to coordinate responses to drones, missiles and hypersonic threats.
A month later, the Italian government declined to renew Cingolani as Leonardo’s CEO, reportedly amid disagreements over management of the Michelangelo Dome project.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing government has sharply escalated Italy’s financial and military support for Ukraine, pushing total defense assistance past €3 billion through successive interministerial relief packages.
That support, which has included advanced hardware such as SAMP/T air defense systems, has continued even as Meloni has faced persistent friction within her own coalition.
Junior coalition partners — most notably Matteo Salvini’s League party — have repeatedly questioned the continued arms shipments and voiced reluctance over deeper military involvement, reflecting a broader current of public pacifism and political skepticism in Italy.
Despite that internal dissent and pressure from fringe factions to shift course, Meloni has kept her government firmly anchored to NATO and EU commitments, repeatedly pushing through waves of military and logistical aid to Ukraine.

mean while the people of italys standard of living goes lower for what to gain
i cooperate w empress trumpstein to steal greenland
i still do not understand how any arms or tech company can be set up in ukraine without beeing blown up instantly.
because the russian federation chose to be more western versus being themselves and continues to do business with the west after 12 years of terrorism on their shores at their own expense. painting it for you in one picture. russia chose to tie one hand behind it’s back over maidan which has included preserving it’s seat in the un/unsc after white genocide has been perpetrated on it’s family next door and seeing it’s own murdered instead of losing the western handcuff$?…
what do you mean…… ‘chose to be more western’. if they wanted to conduct war like the west, they’d have done a shock and awe on ukraine on the very first day.
think asymmetrically. why blow them up when they are just starting to be set up? why not let them set up completely (and pretend you don’t see them) and then hit them when they have invested so much more time, $ and equipment? much more damage and disruption to the enemy.
i’m beginning to think when a bush rustles in ukraine, it’s heard in moscow.
italy announces skynet. that way ai can launch coordinated strikes on any and all populations any time the globalist algorithm programmers decide. what is the israeli investment in this? what is kushners cut ?
are you sure you’re not speaking of shysternet? you know, the iron dome thingy.
excellent. looks like italy needs to have more of it’s weapons depots destroyed like the one outside of rome a week or so ago. this is what happens when you abandoned your sovereignty (most importantly your own currency) for an economic union that the western european taxpayers never wanted in the first place. italy will be re-visiting el-duce 80 years ago but with much worse consequences for it.
leonardo needs to have a “booom” moment
outra porcaria de sistema de defesa antiaéreo
trying to build a new roman empire?
the one around 500 ad?
to think that russian biohazard teams were helping italy during the covid plandemic, and this is the gratitude?
the wops will probably soon surrender and switch sides. they always do. with allies like italy, who needs enemies?
italy will supply all the diapers and white flags! heheheheh
made in the usa, right?
don’t give the italians short shrift. i remember the one who was spitting in a jihadi’s face in the early days of afghanistan, as he was about to lose his head.
they just don’t like fighting for their governments. they’re sort of anarchists at heart, unlike the robogermans.
i might be crazy, but i think russian dumplings are better then italian ravioli.
having a ladel in both those pots, i like them both.
high time to start calling meloni mellonhead.
as an italian, meloni, i can easily call her an americunt plant, a member of the elitist us aspen society. she’ll do, as will all the people in the nazi fascist system, what they want her to do…
italy is a captive nation.
