The Jaish al-Izza militant group (affilated with the so-called “Free Syrian Army” umbrella brand) released a statement on September 2 that the group’s militants had downed a Russian military helicopter in the northern part of the Syrian province of Hama.
Jaish al-Izza allegedly used a TOW missile against the helicopter landed at the Rahbet Khattab military base. No photo or video evidences have been provided.
Jaish al-Izza is one of “moderate opposition groups” that had united with the ISIS-linked terrorists from Jund al-Aqsa in order to conduct military operations against the Syrian army and its allies in northern Hama.
UPDATE: According to pro-government sources, the helicopter belonged to the Syrian Arab Air Forces.
