Jihadist rebels launch massive offensive in northern Homs

AlMasdarNews reports: Homs, Syria (10:15 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels, led by Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, launched a massive offensive in the northern Homs countryside on Monday night, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the small town of Al-Zara.

Jabhat Al-Nusra’s media wing reported that this latest offensive is meant to lift the large-scale siege on the northern Homs countryside.

So far, the jihadist rebels have managed to capture the Al-Madajin Checkpoint that is situated just north of Al-Zara after a short battle with the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces (NDF).

According to preliminary reports from the northern Homs front, the jihadist rebels are attempting to encircle the strategic Al-Zara Thermal Plant, which was under siege by the same forces two months ago.

Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) began conducting airstrikes over the Al-Rastan Plains in response to the attempted advance by the jihadist rebels.

This was a modern day “GettysBurg” attack and it has all the hallmarks of a politician or a retarded leader getting scared/impatient and stepping in to make a serious blunder. Before, if you all noticed, the “FSA” was very keen to make large scale attacks such as this, especially starting in 2014 when the SAF was beginning to come back to life. Large scale attacks were made smaller starting at the end of 2015 when the RuAF joined the fray. Eventually, the battlelines became locked in a stalemate. Neither side willing to commit large forces as neither side had the ability to field lots of fighters.

And now we have the events of the past two/three weeks. The SAA slowly creeped in and encircled aleppo. The “FSA” slowly disengaged, contempt to fight elsewhere like at the latakia mountains.

Then someone powerful stepped in… an obvious noob to fighting a war like this… whom gathered up all the warmbodies he could, and threw them into a “slot”, surrounded by the SAA, in an area that all the SAA had to do was setup “overlapping” machine gun/artillary, air support didn’t even matter, but helped speed up the slaughter… The “FSA” were sent there without air support, without appreciable anti-aircraft capabilities, insufficient armored support, and they made them walk/run for miles in the hot desert plains before reaching aleppo…

THIS battle played out almost EXACTLY like what happened at GettysBurg, only faster.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite over for the “FSA” yet. Just like at the original GettysBurg battle, Robert E. Lee limped off with a sizable force still, but was unable to conduct any offensive operations and was purely on the defensive. He was eventually chased down by the Army of the Potomac where he was eventually forced to surrender a year later.

The same thing is gonna play out for the FSA in the next few weeks but way way faster…
