Deadly clashes continue in Kabul, where the Taliban have launched the counter-terrorism operations against ISIS members.

Last night, heavy clashes broke out in the 17th district in the north-east of Kabul after a special unit of the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate launched an operation against ISIS insurgents.

According to the claims of the Taliban’s spokesperson, the operation was a success. One of the ISIS hideouts in the district was destroyed and all the members of the terrorist cell were killed.

The exact number of the victims was not officially revealed.

The ISIS members opened a return fire with light and heavy weapons. At least three explosions were reportedly heard in the area, and a large fire was seen on the photographs from the spot.

According to the local reports, three ISIS operatives were also killed by the Taliban in the Khair Khaneh area in the north-western countryside of Kabul, following the clashes that lasted for several hours.

Another operation was carried out in the 7th district of Kabul city, targeting a group of ISIS insurgents.

According to the Taliban spokesperson, it was carried out late at night and was also a success.

The Russian Embassy in Afghanistan reported that heavy clashes took place not far from its building that is located in the north of the same 7th district, in the Ayub Khan Mena area.

According to the footage shared by the Russian sources, the shots were heard in the area in the morning of October 4.  Thus, it can be concluded that the fire exchange resumed.

According to the Russian sources, five terrorists were killed.

The Taliban’s counter-terrorist operations are likely a response to the recent deadly explosion at one of the gates of Eid Gha Mosque in the Afghanistan’s capital.

Today, the terrorist groups, which have increased their activity all around the country, including the capital, are a major threat for the Taliban. The new Afghan authorities have to fight them, as the terrorists may compete them for power in various regions.
