The Kalashnikov Concern (which is a part of Rostec) presented its news unmanned aerial vehicle – the KUB-BLA aerial kamikaze drone, at the International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment “IDEX-2019” in Abu Dhabi.

“This drone has successfully passed trials and is ready for use”, the company’s press service told reporters.

“KUB-BLA” is designed to destroy remote ground targets. The unmanned aerial vehicle delivers a special load on the coordinates of the target, which are set manually or can be acquired automatically through an image. It is also capable of self-exploding when it reaches a target

“This complex is a step towards completely new combat operations. We are confidently staying in the forefront among the countries-producers of such weapons,” said Sergey Chemezov, Rostec CEO.

The kamikaze drone may travel at speeds from 80 to 130 kilometers (50-80 miles) per hour, with a payload about three kilograms (6.6 pounds) and a flight duration of up to 30 minutes. Its dimensions are 1210*950*165 mm.

“The ZALA AERO Group of the Kalashnikov concern developed the drone. “the leading Russian developer and manufacturer of unmanned air systems, unique target loads and other technical means to ensure their use. Since January 2015, ZALA AERO has become one of the group of companies in the Kalashnikov Concern.”

Sputnik reported that the director general of Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev noted that Russia had started supplying Kalashnikov AK103 third generation assault rifles to Saudi Arabia under a contract signed between the two countries in 2017.

”We have signed and are now implementing a contract on the supplies of Kalashnikov assault rifles. The next stage will be the launch of production of the assault rifle for the needs of third countries as well as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, Mikheev told reporters.

The director general noted that the two countries would soon agree on a project over the joint production of AK103 in Saudi Arabia.

“We will introduce this proposal to the government to implement this project. I think that there are three to four months left until the procedures of the whole project are approved”, he added.

30 minutes duration? Wouldn’t expect this amateur work from Kalashnikov.

Prince Teutonic

With speed 80 – 130 km/h this means a range from 40 to 65 km which is good enough for such relatively small drone…

lovethemapples

there are comparable drones with longer distance and duration. ps: higher the speed shorter the time, energy consumption.

Prince Teutonic

Even the regular Russian army doesn’t use AK103 but much older AK74. Now they will start production for the “third world” countires…

Tudor Miron

One should learn more on the subject before posting :) Russian regular army is using AK74M which is 5.45X39 version of absolutely the same AK103 which is 7.62X39, AK105 is a short version of AK74M, AK104 is a short version of AK103. There’s also AK101 and AK102 (short) in 5.56X45. All of them are 100 series AK of the same generation.

Prince Teutonic

AK74M is still relatively old, designed in late eighties, introduced in 1991…

Tudor Miron

It is the same age as AK103 :) For example M4A1 was introduced in 1991 and adopted in service in 1994.

Prince Teutonic

Sorry i mistakenly thought they will sell AK12 or AK15 to Saudis and other “third world” countries…

Toni Liu

There are ak 100’s type that will use ak 12 furniture, that mostly will be exported to 3rd world country

Promitheas Apollonious

30 minutes flight, I dont see the use of such a drone, unless is used as a short range missile but even then I am sure missiles will do a better job than this drone.

You can call me Al

It seems too slow to me.

Promitheas Apollonious

to me is too little on all specs and definitely not fit for military use.

Wolfgang Wolf

his is a close-combat suicide drone-bomb… what the fuck is needed more? 1000 km range at supersonic speed?

Promitheas Apollonious

close combat make more sense to use missiles and artillery. Maybe the drone has potentials when actually can do more than suicide itself. If you think a little you understand also the spirit I said what I said.

occupybacon

The best thing of an AK is the price so is it a cheap drone?

John Whitehot

the only thing that’s cheap is the ’80ies propaganda you produce.

occupybacon

I’m happy to help the poor

John Whitehot

good point. because, see, in our time, “informing the ignorant” should be part of the christian duty of charity, alongside the principles like “feed the hungry”, “dress the naked”.

which brings us to another point:

disinforming the ignorant, would equate to take food from the hungry, or water from the thirsty.

at that point, those responsible for it will be alone, facing the judgement of their conscience and make no mistake – conscience does not take money in consideration.

occupybacon

Thanks for telling me why my point is good

John Whitehot

it’s up to you if the expression was literal, or ironic.

occupybacon

Nobody cares about this forced detail

LaRata

Sent some to Syria for testing in real scenario…

Folks, who knows Dr. Rossi E-Cat SK technology, he understand, UAVs in near future will have unlimited range – video presentation here:

Smaug

Nifty, an oversized version of the Switchblade.
