The Russian military and border guards are destroying Ukrainian formations that infiltrated the region of Kursk, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 7.
In a statement, the ministry said that the fierce resistance of the military and border guards coupled with a series of aerial, missile and artillery strikes had prevented Kiev forces from advancing further in Kursk.
The reserves of Kiev forces were defeated close to the settlements of Basovka, Zhuravka, Yunakovka, Belovody, Kiyanitsa, Korchakovka, Novaya Sech, Pavlovka and Gorodishche in the Ukrainian region of Sumy, it added.
So far, Kiev forces have lost 260 fighters and 50 vehicles, including seven main battle tanks, eight armored personnel carriers, three infantry fighting vehicles, 31 combat armored vehicles, including 12 Kozak and two American-made Stryker, one engineering clearing vehicle and six cars.
In addition, two Buk M1 air defense systems, a UR-77 mine-clearing vehicle and an electronic warfare station were also destroyed.
Videos released by the ministry and Russian media showed some of the heavy Ukrainian military losses in Sumy and Kursk.
The attack on Kursk, which began early on August 6, comes as Kiev forces are nearing collapse in the direction of Donetsk.
The use of weapons made by the United States and other Western allies of Kiev indicate that the attack was orchestrated with help from NATO.
While the Kiev regime apparently believes that the attack will distract the Russian military. However, it will only deplete Ukraine’s already limited resources. In fact, the failure of the attack, which appears to be guaranteed, could contribute to the complete collapse of Kiev forces in other directions.
