Kiev forces sustained heavy human and material losses white attempting to advance in the directions of South Donetsk, Kupyansk, Krasny Liman and Donetsk, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on August 3.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that teh Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled eight attacks close to Belogorovka, Berestovoye, Kleshcheevka, Krasnogorovka, and Maryinka. After repelling the attacks, the group launched a counterattack and improved the situation on the frontline near the settlements.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 380 troops, a tank, five armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, two Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer as well as a Rapira anti-tank gun, according to the ministry.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces targeted Ukrainian gatherings of manpower and equipment close to Ugledar, Prechistovka, Makarovka and Staromayorskoye. The group also repelled an attack near Urozhaynoye.
The ministry said that Kiev forces lost 175 troops, a tank, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, two American-made M777 towed howitzers and a D-30 towed howitzer.
In the Zaporozhye direction, several Ukrainian gatherings were targeted near Orekhov, Malaya Tokmachka, Novodanilovka and Pyatikhatki.
At least 45 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, two motor vehicles, an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer and a D-20 towed howitzer were neutralized in this direction, the ministry said.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces conducted offensive operations on a broad front and took more advantageous positions near Olshana, Pershotravnyovoye and Kuzyomovka. Moreover, the group repelled an attack by Ukraine’s 25th Airborne Brigade close to Novosyolovskoye.
A series of Russian strikes also targeted gatherings of manpower and equipment near Sinkovka, Petropavlovka, Kotlyarovka and Stelmakhovka.
The ministry said that Kiev forces lost 150 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and a D-30 towed howitzers.
Meanwhile in the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled two Ukrainian attacks near Novovodyanoye and Chervonaya Dibrova. During the battle, Kiev forces lost 30 troops, an infantry fighting vehicle and an armored personnel carrier. In addition, the group launched a comprehensive fire attack on Ukrainian units near Grigorovka, Torskoye and Makeevka.
Ukrainian Losses amounted to 110 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, according to the ministry.
In the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 30 servicemen, five motor vehicles and a Msta-B towed howitzer to Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details on Ukrainian losses:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized 97 artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and military hardware in 106 areas.
In addition, 1 Buk surface-to-air missile system has been destroyed near Memrik (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense units have intercepted 11 HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system projectiles and 2 HARM anti-radar missiles.
In addition, 38 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Novovodyanoye, Rubezhnoye, Nikolayevka, Privolye (Lugansk People’s Republic), Dokuchayevsk, Spornoye, Kremenets, Berestovoye, Yevgenovka, Volodino (Donetsk People’s Republic), Shirokoye and Lyubimovka (Zaporozhye region).
In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,468 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defense missile systems, 11,100 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,142 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,731 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,038 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing the destruction of a T-64 tank, two IMR-2 engineering vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and a Strela-10 short-range air defense system of Kiev forces with Lancet loitering munitions.
Ukraine launched its counteroffensive more than eight weeks ago after receiving tens of billions worth of military aid from its backers in the West. Nevertheless, its forces have so far sustained heavy losses and failed to make any meaningful gains.
