On March 17th, the situation in Eastern Ukraine appears to be deepening.
“In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the occupiers fired grenade launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns near Pisky (11km north-west of Donetsk) and Hnutove (20km north-east of Mariupol),” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reported.
The occupiers, as the Kiev government refers to the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics militias, usually respond to shelling from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Still, the DPR/LPR has allegedly moved on to using banned weapons to attack.
According to the statement, in the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group “North”, the enemy fired 82mm mortars banned under the Minsk Agreements, hand-held antitank grenade launchers, grenade machine guns and tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns in the suburbs of Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk); heavy machine guns and tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns – near Svitlodarsk (57km north-east of Donetsk); under-barrel grenade launchers – outside Novotoshkivske (53km west of Luhansk).
In more claims of “Russian Aggression”, prosecutors of the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office together with investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine documented “yet another fact of arms supplies from the aggressor country to the illegal armed formations in the Joint Forces Operation area in Donbas.”
“On the territory of populated localities Triokhizbenka and Krymske of Shchastia district, Katerynivka and Novotoshkivske of Severodonetsk district, where illegal armed formations of the occupation administration of the Russian Federation had been stationed earlier, Russian-made munition was found: three PMN-2 pressure operated anti-personnel blast mines and a fragment of POM-2 antipersonnel fragmentation mine,” the press service of the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
To assist in the UAF’s future endeavors, the Lviv Armored Plant, a part of State Concern Ukroboronprom, handed over a new batch of 10 modernized T-64 and T-72 tanks to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“The tanks underwent major repairs and deep modernization. We took into account all the wishes of the customer. The equipment was delivered in full combat readiness. It is equipped with state-of-the-art communication and fire control systems, day and night vision devices, rear view cameras, grenade-launching smoke screen systems and dynamic protection from high-explosive hollow charges,” said the plant’s director Viktor Androshchuk, the press service of Ukroboronprom reported.
Escalation is likely coming to Ukraine, and it expects to get support from all of its Western Allies.
One of its “closest allies,” Poland, is showing signs of great support.
In the video below Polish soldiers are singing a song of conquering a city located in modern Ukraine. And then they would move towards Lviv.
“We are going from Warsaw to Vilno, to see our beloved Vilno, and from Vilno the road is already ready to our beloved Lviv.”
So, while Ukraine is pushing out rhetoric and are preparing for war with the Eastern Ukrainian republics and Russia, sworn allies crept up behind, who, by the way, would be nice to remember the 5 partitions of Poland.
Separately, March 18th is a sensitive day for Ukraine, since it is the day Crimea became part of Russia.
To commemorate the event, on March 17th, Kiev withdrew from measures to strengthen the ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine and is starting to pull forces and means to the line of contact, said Boris Gryzlov, the plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the trilateral Contact Group.
“Ukraine’s withdrawal from the measures to strengthen the ceasefire is obvious. Kiev is shelling residential areas and civilian infrastructure. At the same time, the cynical calculation during shelling is based on calling back fire on Ukrainian troops and thus creating a pretext for a military adventure,” Gryzlov said following the TCG meeting in an online format on March 17th.
The plenipotentiary noted that the armed forces of Ukraine are pulling new forces and means to the line of contact, violating all previous obligations on disengagement.
“Kiev shelling of Donbass territories occurs every day … It is clear that the Ukrainian authorities feel at an impasse, but the military aggravation in Donbass is not a way out of this impasse. The only alternative for Kiev is a political dialogue with Donbass, this is the fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations Minsk. Any military adventure will end very badly for Ukraine,” he stressed.
Gryzlov also added that at today’s meeting of the trilateral Contact Group, Ukraine has put forward “an ultimatum condition to exclude a representative of the Donbass public from the discussion of political issues of the settlement.”
“The meeting of the Contact Group in the political part was disrupted,” Gryzlov noted, adding that Kiev also refused to coordinate the opening of two checkpoints in the Luhansk region in the agreed parameters of their functioning.
