Kremlin Denounces Rumors On Upcoming Military Operation In Syria's Idlib

A Kremlin spokesman said on February 15 that the new Russian-Turkish agreements on Idlib do not include a military operation in the northern Syrian governorate.

“These are steps aimed at clearing Idlib from terrorist groups that now control a significant part of this territory,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to the Anadolu Agency.

The leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran discussed the situation in Idlib during a meeting in the Russian city of Sochi a day earlier. The three countries agreed to take unspecified extra steps to clear Idlib of “hotbed of terrorists,” according to President Vladimir Putin.

“We should not put up with the presence of terrorist groups in Idlib … That’s why I propose we consider practical concrete steps that Russia, Turkey and Iran can take to completely destroy this hotbed of terrorists,” Reuters quoted the Russian President as saying.

More than 90% of Idlib territory is now controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria. The radical group and its allies are violating the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement, that was reached last year, on a daily basis.

These new steps which will be taken by Russia, Turkey and Iran to counter the influence of HTS remain unclear. However, local observers expect that the lack of serious actions against the terrorists could encourage them to expand their influence even further.

“However, local observers expect that the lack of serious actions against the terrorists could encourage them to expand their influence even further.”

And how?

In fact their influence is being reduced with time not increased, as everybody know that they are dead men walking and their “cause” is hopeless.

ofcourse not……. this bs has been going on for months now, since russia gave the green light to Turkey to invade and occupy and Change the dempgraphics of Afrin!!! same bs with idlib. conclusion… as Long as russia protects afrin and idlib, terrorists attacks including chemicla warfare will continue!!

But then again… Putin is receiving orders freom his jewish masters!!! 1917… the date when russia was made khasaraian!!!

The YPG refused to grant the SAA entry & control over Afrin to protect them from the Turks, Russia wasn’t about to be used as the Kurd’s personal airforce while they were actively working to Annex Syrian lands for their Kurdistan, so they left them to it and the rest was history. Remember, Assad requested assistance from Russia to help clear the terrorist filth, Putin could’ve declined his request and left Syria to their fate, which is what would’ve happened if Putin was a Zionist stooge for Israel like Trump is. I’m sure you were one of the many people frothing at the mouth demanding that Russia retaliate militarily in response to Turkey shooting down a Russian plane and killing a pilot. Putin’s asymmetric response dealt more damage and combined with saving Erdogan from a US-led coup managed to peel away Turkey significantly (although not entirely) from the US/UK/Israel/NATO circle of vassal influence.

Gabriel Hollows

And now he’s actively protecting the remaining terrorists. Eastern jews may not be zionists, but they still control Russia. Putin’s new strategy is to keep the Turks happy, and the Syrians afraid, so that he can continue to sell weapons to both.

I disagree, did you forget that the F.UK.US+Israel threatened to go to war with the SAA & their allies if they rolled into idlib to clear out the last of the Jihadi rats? That was merely a year ago, now the US is slowly on its way out of Syria, the terrorist are mostly boxed in the few territories where they currently occupy and they have basically no way out and 0% chance of toppling Assad. Even turkey knows that it will eventually be forced to leave Syria which is why they’re trying to consolidate their terrorist proxies into some sort of “political faction” similar to the SDF so they can maintain a degree of influence in Idlib & beyond. However that turns out, armed groups operating outside of the umbrella of the SAA will not be tolerated under any circumstances, that includes the terrorists & the YPG/SDF alike, which I believe is Putin’s strategy; to allow those willing to come to the negotiating table to disarm and surrender themselves, and for all the rest who can’t or won’t, to die where they stand.

Barba_Papa

No, his strategy is to separate Turkey from the US and NATO. A long term strategy which is clearly unknown to hysterical OMGZ PUTIN BETRAYED SYRIA crybabies.

What happens in Idlib is of little consequence and only a minor nuisance to the survival of Assad. And that Putin has already achieved. Taking Idlib would be child’s play, but that would put Turkey firmly back into the US camp. And that would gain Putin nothing. And neither would it Syria.

Rob

Nope, Russia doesn’t take dictation from Zionists Israel and Zionists Washington. Moscow twice refused to meet with Netanyahu and Washington counterparts.

Zionism = EVIL

Not true. Nutter Yahoo is in Moscow dictating orders to poodle Putin right now. He has gone to Russia 15 times since the terror war in Syria began. The shameless Ruskies hosted a Zionist military delegation holding hands even after the Zionists downed the IL-20. Let’s stick to FACTS!

Rob

You mean that the IL-20 destruction was due to Moscow wrong policies but I don’t think so.

Putin well knows that Washington and Briton have created Israeli terrorist state against first USSR and then against Russia.

Tudor Miron

“1917… the date when russia was made khasaraian!!!”(c) that’s your wishful thinking. Yes, there was an attepmt and they almost succeeded but it was busted by 1929.

BMWA1

After 1920 I think.

Tudor Miron

I use the year when Trotsky was removed from CCCP.

BMWA1

Trotsky was the political backer of the Warsaw Battle, thus 20 marks the start of his decline.

Tudor Miron

Yes, it is possible to use different dates considering that it was a process rather than short time event.

Zionism = EVIL

The Bolshevik scum were all Khazarian Jews, Just check out Lenin’s nose for validity :) The USSR was the first state to recognize the illegal Zionist occupation of Palestine.

Zionism = EVIL

The Ruskie poodle Putin clears every action with his dog handler Nutter Yahoo and the Zionist oligarchs who control him. Why do you think Russia keeps on apologizes to the Americungt “partners” and Zionist masters, even though they keep killing naive Russians.

Anastasis

The Presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey met in Sochi. The three areas of Idlib ,Afrín and Manbij must have been priority issues. Idlib because of the activities of the Turkey-backed HTS organization, Afrin which Turkey controls and almost completely changed its demographic character, with the prospect of turning it into a protectorate, and Manbij which will be evacuated with the departure of the US troops and Turkey is claiming it with the argument “Safety Zones”.The problem for Syria will not be the Terrorists, but Turkey with the policy of expansionism.

Zionism = EVIL

Good comment and factual. The Turkeys have annexed the best agricultural lands of Syria and unless they are forced out, it will turn into another Palestine or Cyprus.

Tudor Miron

I don’t see any denouncements in the words coming from Kremlin. Am I missing something?

BMWA1

Yes, article seems a bit different from title.

goingbrokes

Just a translation confusion. I think they meant to say “deny”.
