The Afrin Liberation Forces (ALF) have carried out a new series of attacks against the Turkish military and its proxies in the Turkish-occupied area of Afrin in northern Syria.
In an official statement released on June 28, the guerrilla group claimed that its fighters had killed 14 Turkish soldiers and Syrian militants and injured many others in the course of the attacks, which took place on June 26 and 27.
“Our forces have directed qualitative strikes against the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in Afrin and in the district of Sherawa, through a series of various military operations over the past two days,” the ALF’s statement reads.
During the operations, ALF fighters ambushed a Turkish unit in Kabbashin and later targeted several positions of the Turkish Armed Forces and its proxies in the same town.
Last week, Turkey acknowledged that a service member was killed and five others were injured in an attack by the ALF on a Turkish military position in southern Afrin.
These repeated attacks by the ALF highlight the Turkish inability to secure Afrin, which was occupied in a rapid operation in early 2018.
