The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (mostly Kurdish YPG units) have successfully splited the ISIS-controlled area in Manbij into three separated parts. Kurdish forces cut-off earch from others the ISIS-controlled Al Naimi neighborhood, the Sheikh Aquil neighborhood and the areas surrounding the Manbij City Hall.
Now, the Kurds will likely launch an operation in order to purge the Sheikh Aquil neighborhood. This will allow to tighten the encirclement of the city center and prevent any successfull logistic of between the remaining ISIS-controlled areas.
The ongoing Kurdish offensive is supported by massive air strikes of the US-led coalition.
