On April 15, two anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) hit a checkpoint of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.
“A checkpoint of the PMU in Nineveh province was subjected to missile strikes this morning,” an Iraqi security source told RT. “Hours after the first strike, the checkpoint was subjected to a new strike.”
The source said the side responsible for the attack has not been determined yet. The PMU has not yet made an official accusation. However, outlets affiliated with the PMU’s factions, including the Sabereen News, said that the strikes were carried out by the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga.
RT shared photos showing the aftermath of the attack. One of the photos show the remains of one of the two ATGMs. A piece of the missile bears the markings “9M”.

This indicates that one of the missiles used in the attack was most likely a Soviet-made 9M113 Konkurs or a Russian-made 9M133 Kornet. The latter is known to be in service with Peshmerga forces.
The Peshmerga may have attacked the PMU in response to the April 14 drone strike on Erbil International Airport. The strike targeted a US base within the airport. Pro-Iranian groups close the PMU were widely accused of carrying out the strike.
The US ambassador in Iraq visited that den of terrorists called Iraqi Kurdistan last week, and praised BarZioani for giving Peshmerga a “new direction” as defenders of Kurds.

At 4 am GMT it was announced that the 3 Suicide Drones that struck Ain Al Assad Base targeted & struck Soldiers’ sleeping quarters plus the Base Centre for Operations & Defense Systems. This is in addition to a different Strike on the US Air Force Base nearby late last night which caused a major fire following the explosion on site. So much for Barzani & Kurdish hangin’ out with US and Israel.
