A ‘skirmish’ between Russian and U.S. forces took place in northern al-Hasakah, when the U.S. military blocked a patrol of the Russian Military Police, the Kurdish-Syrian Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported on January 25.
According to ANHA, the incident took place in the vicinity of the town of Tell Tamr, where the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) also maintains a large presence.
After the stand-off, the Russian patrol returned to a base near the border city of Qamishli, north of Tell Tamr, while U.S. forces withdrew back to al-Hasakah city.
“About half an hour after the accident, two Russian helicopters flew over Tell Tamr, American warplanes were also flying [over the region],” the ANHA’s report reads.
This was the fourth such incident in Syria’s northeastern region this month. The previse incident took place earlier this week, with U.S. forces blocking a Russian patrol near the oil-rich area of Rmelan in northeast al-Hasakah.
These actions by U.S. forces could be a part of a wider plan to limit the freedom of operations of the Russian military in northeast Syria.

There has been some friction of late, which has been more noticeable. It is not unexpected that the US might want to be more assertive but, that is not going to go far. The biggest problem facing the SAA is motivated manpower. The quality of conscripts have increased with Iranian and Russian training, but they are over-extended and unless Iran and Russia increase their commitment the Americunt and NATO poodles will keep on arming the headchoppers and will eventually attack the small Russian military force in Syria. Russia should have declared a NO-FLY zone over Syria in 2015 and not given the Americunts an opportunity to invade and occupy Syrian strategic oilfields. Russia doesn’t have to use the roads to get to any of the areas in Syria. Russia’s vehicles can drive over all kinds of terrain. Russia should just take the scenic routes over the fields and streams. Russia has lots of paratroopers with their battle tanks and other equipment too; if they chose to use many methods to liberate Syria’s land mass of 185,180 sq km.

Russia can’t do that simply because the Sunni Muslims are absolute majority in Syria. So it is not 100% sure that today Assad has support of majority in Syria. Unfortunately many of those Sunni were seduced by CIA(Mossad) created extremism – ISIS, Al Qaeda. So Russia was always for compromise in Syria but the problem is that Assad doesn’t want any compromise. That’s why peace is not there yet in Syria.
